Approved for public release; distribution is unlimited. / This thesis compares two types of command guidance to be used by a point defense system: Proportional Navigation and Command to Line Of Sight (CLOS). The system block diagram was first defined. The necessary transfer functions were derived. Two forward time models were evaluated, one for each guidance method, using state variable analysis. Two three dimensional scenarios were defined and their results used to compare the two methods. Parameters considered in the comparison were miss distance and acceleration load on the missile.
