CIVINS / The purpose of this thesis is the Investigation of range error introduced in the fall of shot by the rolling of the ship, when using Director Fire and the method of correcting for these errors for the initial shot. The conditions to be investigated which cause this error in the fall of shot are: (1) Motion of the Sighting instrument relative to a fixed plane on the ship. (2) Motion of the gun during the firing interval, and (3) Motion of the ship imparting velocities to the projectile which tend to move it out of its calculated path.
