[pt] Este estudo tem como objetivo caracterizar as transformações ocorridas no espaço urbano de Muriaé – Minas Gerais, a partir da implementação de políticas públicas habitacionais pós 1970. Para que esse objetivo pudesse ser alcançado, buscou-se identificar quem foram os agentes sociais produtores do espaço urbano muriaeense e seu respectivo papel no desenrolar das políticas habitacionais no município, a saber: BNH, COAHB – MG e Movimento das Casas Populares. Inicialmente recorre-se ao conceito de espaço e paisagem, com o propósito de se entender como o espaço e a paisagem urbana sofreram metamorfose frente à atuação dos agentes sociais. A seguir, apresenta-se uma breve síntese histórica da organização do espaço urbano do município. Analisam-se ainda as representações do espaço e os espaços de representações, por meio da empregabilidade dos resultados do questionário aplicado aos moradores de tais conjuntos habitacionais. Um grupo pertencente à associação de moradores do bairro e outro não pertencente à associação de bairro. Além disso, discutiu-se a crise pela qual passam as cidades hoje, e verificou-se que Muriaé não foge à regra. / [en] This is study aims to characterize the changes occurring in the urban space in the city of Muriaé, Minas Gerais, from the implementation of habitation politics after 1970. For this goal could be achieved we sought to identify who were the social agents muriaeense producers of urban space, and their respective roles in the unfolding of habitation politics in the municipality, namely: BNH, COAHB – MG and the Movement of Popular House.
