[pt] A ideia de progresso impacta diretamente a forma como imaginamos o
futuro, mas não é imutável, tendo passado por várias mudanças no curso da
história. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo explorar dois entendimentos
dessa ideia nos EUA da segunda metade do século XX, a partir da leitura de duas
obras de ficção científica (The robots of dawn, de Isaac Asimov; e The telling, de
Ursula K. Le Guin), refletindo sobre a forma como o futuro é imaginado nesses
dois momentos distintos. / [en] The idea of progress impacts the way in which we understand the future,
but this idea is not immutable, having been understood in different ways
throughout history. This work shall explore two different understandings of this
idea hailing from post-World War II United States of America, extracted from
science fiction (Isaac Asimov s The robots of dawn and Ursula K. Le Guin s The
telling), reflecting the way the future was imagined in these two moments.
