La question de la compréhension orale est une activité clé qui nécessite un traitement spécifique dans un processus d’analyse et d’étude. En Arabie Saoudite, l’Etat manifeste un intérêt particulier pour l’enseignement des langues étrangères. Il y a de plus en plus d’étudiants qui souhaitent apprendre et étudier les langues étrangères et notamment la langue française. Notre thèse va s’intéresser à l’enseignement du FLE en Arabie et étudier l’efficacité des méthodes (proposées ou imposées) dans l’enseignement du français à l’université saoudienne. D’autre part nous allons évaluer le système de l’enseignement du FLE et notamment la question de la compréhension orale. Ceci nous permettra de proposer des solutions et ainsi apporter de nouvelles : approches et méthodes pour l’enseignement du FLE à l’université saoudienne. Notre recherche vise à définir les difficultés des apprenants saoudiens dans la compréhension orale, étudier et analyser l’efficacité utilisée dans l’enseignement universitaire. Donc, nous allons faire un état des lieux de l’enseignement du FLE en Arabie Saoudite et montrer que la compréhension orale est un objectif clé dans tout processus d’apprentissage d’une langue étrangère. / The question of oral comprehension is a key activity which necessitates a particular interest in analytic processes. In Saudi Arabia, the state has a keen interest in the teaching of foreign languages. There is an ever increasing number of students who wish to acquire a foreign language, most notably French. This thesis investigates the teaching of French as a foreign language (FFL) in Saudi Arabia and studies the effectiveness of methods (proposed or imposed) in the teaching of French in the Saudi university. Moreover we evaluate the FFL system, paying particular attention to the question of oral comprehension. This allows us to propose solutions, as well as to bring in new methods and approaches for the teaching of FFL in the Saudi university. Our research aims to define the difficulties of Saudi students in oral comprehension, and to study and analyze the effectiveness of university teaching. We therefore conduct a review of the teaching of FFL in Saudi Arabia and conclude that oral comprehension is a key objective in the learning process of any foreign language.
