Electronic Health Records (EHR) are one of its most important subdomain, in charge of storage, exhibition, and manipulation of patient clinical information, among others. EHR systems require domain flexibility, which allows modifications in the structure of documents without application recompilation or redeployment, for instance, in a web server. Current approaches in the literature propose generic models to represent domain and presentation, without ontological definitions for user interface (UI) layout and style. These, when properly organized, improve the acceptance of the system by users. This work aims to develop a framework to layout and style generation for graphical user interface of EHR documents, based on Web Ontology Language (OWL) ontologies and using restrictions. By centralizing and combining metadata from biomedical and documents domains, it was possible to apply layout and style to EHR documents, with the use of grids, including additional ontological definition of presentation formats for the medical field, facilitating UI development and maintenance.

Nowadays is Increasingly evident a greater resources scarcity and competition for physical space, in result of growing up and large population concentration into large cities. Although, this sources of information technology and communications (ITCs) forming complex structures and generates a huge quantity of data that represents biggest challenges and opportunities. One of the main technological tools used in this context is the Complex Event Processing (CEP), which may be considered a good solution to deal with increase of the availability and large volume of data, in real time. The CEPs realizes captation of events in a simple way, using expressive languages, to define and execute processing rules.

Ax, Jens, Obrelius, Jesper January 2016 (has links)
Today many companies have intranet failing to meet the users need and the most frequent complaint is that users do not find what they are looking for. This leads companies to lose both time and money on having employees that are unable to utilize the system in a sufficient manner, which often leads to expensive educational costs and loss of productivity. The primary reason that information is not found is that there is a lack of a consistent navigation tool that clearly indicates where the user should go to find what he/she is looking for. Design and structure in an interface plays a large role when it comes to how users understand and interpret an interface. However, the difficulty is that it tends to be visually disruptive and provide a cognitive load. Currently are a strong development of mobile devices taking place and questions are raised regarding how these interfaces can be optimized to make it easier for the user. Especially, when it comes to the mobile context and the limitations it causes. To make it easier are designers advised to develop natural interactions which are supposed to ease the cognitive load. This study therefore explores how design principles stemming from natural interactions, together with the mobility, affect the usability and ease of use for work in a desktop environment. The study has been conducted upon request of CLX Networks, a company that provide solutions for, among others, sms, voice and data. The assignment has entailed suggestions of improvements of the company’s intranet menu, which has been considered as inadequate by CLX. In this study, a user test of CLX’s current intranet menu was performed as well as five interviews with employees that work and use the system. The interviews concerned the topics of findability, actability, usability and mobile usability. Continuously was a card sorting performed to let the informants themselves visualize a proposed menu. The results from the empirical investigation were used to create an interactive prototype. Design principles from findability, actability, usability and natural interactions have been utilized in the creation of the new menu. Based on the investigations performed in this study is it possible to conclude that design principles from natural interactions and the mobility have a positive influence on ease of use concerning the menu in the graphical interface in a desktop environment. The study also confirms that a combination of the two viewpoints, natural interactions and desktop paradigm that facilitate the usage and cognitive load, which previously was troublesome for the employees.

Pragmatic Design of Compliant Mechanisms using Selection Maps

Hegde, Sudarshan January 2013 (has links) (PDF)
A pragmatic method for designing compliant mechanisms is developed in this thesis, by selecting among existing mechanisms one that may be modified as required. This method complements existing techniques by answering questions of the existence and multiplicity of solutions for the given specifications of a practical problem. The premise for the method is a 2D map that juxta- poses the problem-specifications and the characteristics of compliant mechanisms in a database. The selection of the most suitable mechanisms is similar to Ashby's method of material selection. In our method, stuffiness, inertia, and the inherent kinematic characteristics of compliant mechanisms are analogous to material properties in Ashby's method. These characteristics capture the lumped behavior of compliant mechanisms in static and dynamic situations using spring-lever (SL) and spring-mass-lever (SML) models. The work includes the development of computation- ally efficient methods to compute the SL and SML model characteristics of single-input and single-output compliant mechanisms. Also developed in this work is a method to determine a feasible map by solving the governing equations of equilibrium and several inequalities pertaining to problem- specifications. The map helps not only in assessing the feasibility of the specifications but also in re-designing the mechanisms in predetermined ways to nd multiple solutions, all of which account for practical considerations. The method pays due attention to the overall size, strength considerations, manufacturability, and choice of material. It also enables minimal alterations of the problem-specifications when the user prefers a particular mechanism in the database. All these features are implemented in a web-based Java program with a graphical user interface that can be accessed at http://www.mecheng.iisc.ernet.in/ m2d2/CM design. Six case- studies that include micro machined inertial sensors, miniature valve mechanisms, ultra-sensitive force sensors, etc., are documented in detail to demonstrate the usefulness of the method in practice.

Dannecker, Lars 16 November 2009 (has links)
• Technische Umsetzung und Evaluation der entwickelten Konzepte / The aim of the ServFace Project is to enable users with limited IT skills to easily create service-based applications. In order to do so, a tool called "ServFace Builder" has been developed. This tool allows users to build a composite application by combining several service operations. An important part of the ServFace Builder is the graphical representation of those service operations through user interfaces. This thesis describes an approach to automatically generate user interfaces for service operations. To enhance the graphical representation, the user interface generation process of the ServFace Builder comprises annotations and design recommendations next to the common service descriptions to enhance the result of the generation process. This thesis discusses: • Graphical representation of service operations on the basis of service descriptions, annotations, plattform specifications and design recommendations. • Integration of the graphical representation into the actual instance of the given application model. • Implementation and evaluation of the presented concepts.

Improving post-productionfeedback process

Abduljalel, Viyan January 2020 (has links)
The process of producing entertaining video and films is complicated and time consuming. One of the complicated parts of post-production of entertaining content is getting feedback and reviewing the draft edit. After the filming process of a series or a film completed, the editors start working on the cut materials. This is a stage in the process where the editor will get their cut reviewed and receive feedback from different teams on the rough-cut or editor cuts. Today the review and the feedback between the editor and reviewer is done online directly through email.
