Development and Usage of IF Recorders in Range Systems

The testing of RF equipment, multipath generation and downstream TM processing systems has been done in the past with varying levels of accuracy. In the past the techniques of checking TM equipment worked, but lacked realism that real TM transmissions provide. This paper describes the development of an IF recorder for range TM. We discuss the usage of a recorder with multiple channels, time correlation, channel skew capability, IF over IP capabilities and file management will allow repeatable, realistic testing of TM systems.

Portable Airborne Digital Data System Recorder

The recorder was developed for use in the aircraft company's Portable Airborne Digital Data System (PADDS), a small scale data acquisition and monitor system used for flight testing. The recorder is designed around an off-the-shelf 8mm tape drive, the Exabyte 8505. It records asynchronous, variable-rate data in a proprietary 24-bit recording format, and allows the data to be played back in real time. Its RS-422 control interface is designed to imitate the recorder used in the company's large scale data acquisition system, the Ampex DCRSi-II. Special provisions allow it to withstand the environment of an airplane's EE bay.

This essay is intended to illustrate the norms and values which can be deduced from the notifier Catarina Andersdotter and recorded by Gunnar-Olof Hyltén-Cavallius. Reflects the legends of the peasant culture and life during the later part of 1700´s and early 1800´s.                       In the background material, I have assumed the following conditions of life; faith, love, work and children. Since Hyltén-Cavallius is our filter between us and the notifier, I have examined his life and incorporated events that may be of interest of the essay. Catarina Andersdotter´s life is described in the essay to show the factors and living conditions in her life that influenced her choice of stories.                       The environment of the commons over time period is described for the purpose of the variables of the legends. Legends have been qualitatively and quantitatively investigated.                       The essay shows that most of the legends deal with mytical world and its creatures as well as the interaction with humans. People are described mainly in situation dealing with everyday task of the country. The essay shows the connection between folklore and Christian world view.                       To obtain deeper and more adequate pictures of the values and norms among the commons during the time period a wide range of sources need to be used.

The EQDR is a network flight recorder built around the iNET standards and which is intended to meet the future needs of the networked telemetry environment. The EQDR is designed to support the "fetch" of recorded test data during a test without interruption to the ongoing recording of data from the test article vehicle network. The key benefits of the network data recorder as implemented in the EQDR are increased flexibility and efficiency of test in an environment with increasing demands on spectrum available for telemetered data. EQDR enables retrieval of individual recorded parameters on an as-needed basis. Having the flexibility to send data only when it is required rather than throughout the duration of the test significantly increases the efficiency with which limited spectrum resources are used. EQDR enables parametric-level data retrieval, based not only on time interval and data source, but also on the content of the recorded data messages. EQDR enables selective, efficient retrieval of individual parameters using indexes derived from the actual values of recorded data.

Inspiration in Collaboration : Creating new music for recorder with the Israeli composer Matan Ben Zahav

Abstract This paper will present my master project which is a collaboration with the Israeli composer Matan Ben Zahav. The idea behind this work, came from my wish to widen the kind of contemporary repertoire I wish to play more of, these days and in the future. The pieces we dealt with in the project were a sonata for recorder and keyboard and a recorder trio that Ben Zahav composed. The trio was composed before the idea for the project was fully formed and helped me think of the idea for the project. After forming an idea, I asked Ben Zahav if he was willing to compose a sonata and that's how the project started. I decided that I would investigate the process and product of a collaborative work with Ben Zahav on the sonata for recorder and keyboard and recorder trio. The collaboration started during rehearsals in which we explored the new repertoire both musically and technically, we suggested different options and tried to make the pieces as comfortable for the recorder as we could. This exploration revealed the different opportunities and benefits that a collaboration can bring.

The Recorder in the Twentieth Century

The purpose of this paper is to acquaint the reader with the state of the recorder as a musical instrument in this century. Information has been gathered from standard texts and journal articles to gain more recent ideas. The work is divided into three sections: (1) a brief history of the instrument; (2) a biographical sketch of Arnold Dolmetsch, the man who was most responsible for the revival of the recorder in this century; and (3) a detailed examination of the use of the recorder today. This last section includes the recorder in education, music written for it, recorder performance and organizations, and construction of the recorder. An appendix lists recorders that are available to players in this country. It is this writer's conclusion that the recorder today has regained its status as a performing medium.

The standard allows for software and hardware playback/analysis tools to be created that will work seamlessly with any IRIG-106 CH 10 compliant recorder. Incorporation of a standard also allows the same recorder to record Video, Audio as well as data from MIL-STD-1553 busses and instrumentation data (PCM, UART, etc.). The IRIG-106 CH 10 standard provides enormous benefits for its users, but without a fully compliant IRIG-106 CH 10 recorder, these benefits cannot be realized.
