Implementation of RSA Cryptosystem for Next Generation RFID Tags

Dighe, Ashish Arun January 2011 (has links)
This thesis addresses concepts of implementing a RSA cryptosystem on a passive RFID tag. With a limited number of public key cryptosystems on passive RFID platforms, the proposed algorithm makes use of Montgomery multiplication primitives to reduce the amount of computation required on the power constrained tag therefore making the proposition viable. Public key cryptography is being suggested for next generation RFID systems to reduce the number of possible attack vectors native to this type of technology. By estimating the area, power and time constraints of the RFID platform, it was determined that the area constraint was the critical variable in determining the maximum implementable security variable. Although the application of this algorithm has been targeted for passive HF RFID platforms, the algorithm could be used in other low power, sized constrained applications.

A metodologia do projeto é apresentada passo a passo e os resultados são analisados e discutidos no texto / Abstract: The project and the theoretical-experimental analysis of a new chipless RFID tag with redundant communication is presented. This new tag may be capable to operate in two different frequencies bands for the transmission of binary information, taking advantage of the use in its design of dual-band antennas. The technique mentioned here is classic, known as frequency diversity, but it is used in this work for the first time applied in chipless RFID tags to increase the reliability of the communication with the RFID readers. Simulations of the proposed new device with HFSS (High Frequency Structural Simulator) software showed an adequate performance. The project methodology is presented step by step and the results are analyzed and discussed in the text / Mestrado / Tecnologia e Inovação / Mestre em Tecnologia

Investigating Present and Future Interactions Between Radio Frequency Identification, Additive Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management

Ochi, Michael Nobuhiro 01 May 2014 (has links) (PDF)
A screening experiment was paired with research observing the past, present and futures of additive manufacturing (a.k.a. rapid prototyping, 3D printing), radio frequency identification, and supply chain management. The experiment tested different properties of objects created with a desktop fused deposition modelling printer to observe if any single factors or interactions affected the read range of embedded passive UHF RFID inlay. The combination of material and infill percentage had a statistically significant effect on read range, however the analysis is weak since the data could not justify the normality assumption of ANOVA. Furthermore, the size of the effect was small enough to deny any practical difference. From the experiment and research, several presently capable interactions between AM and RFID were commented on. Future interactions between AM, RFID and SCM were also discussed, and a common relationship to physical objects was drawn.

RFID integrated systems in libraries: extending TAM model for empirically examining the use

Kapoor, K., Dwivedi, Y.K., Piercy, N.C., Lal, B., Weerakkody, Vishanth J.P. January 2014 (has links)
No / The available literature suggest that the research on radio frequency identification (RFID)-related issues is largely concentrated on technical, organizational and implementation aspects, and comparatively lesser attention has been invested in understanding the use aspect of such library management systems. The purpose of this paper is to gain an understanding into the factors that influence the use of RFID systems in the library context by empirically testing the relevant constructs from the extended technology acceptance model (TAM). A questionnaire-based survey approach was employed for collecting the relevant data from 197 respondents. The respondents were the active users of a RFID-based library system. Findings from this study suggested that perceived usefulness and system quality positively influence the user attitude, and user attitude and system quality significantly influence the use of the RFID services. The paper concludes with outlining the salient points, limitations, and future research directions. The paper evaluates the role of a set of innovation attributes on the acceptance of RFID integrated systems in libraries. Owing to the scant literature availability in empirical investigations on adoption of RFID systems in libraries, the findings from this paper add value to the existing literature in this field, and also to the literature on the TAM model, with the empirical findings being of use to the aspirant libraries looking toward integrating RFID enabled systems.

No. of bitstreams: 1 AugustoCPSM_DISSERT.pdf: 2233012 bytes, checksum: 89758cdc093b113084eb987f29899b36 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2010-12-21 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior / In recent years, the radio frequency identification technology (RFID) has gained great interest both industrial communities as scientific communities. Its ability to locate and monitor objects, animals and persons with active or passive tags allows easy development, with good cost-benefice and still presents undeniable benefits in applications ranging from logistics to healthcare, robotics, security, among others. Within this aspect what else comes excelling are RFID tags and the antennas used in RFID readers. Most tags have antennas omnidirectional and are usually manufactured as dipoles modified printed. The primary purpose of a project of antenna for tag is to achieve the required input impedance to perform a good marriage impedance with the load impedance of the chip. Already the objective principal in project of antennas for readers is to achieve reduced sizes and structures with good data transmission capacity. This work brings the numerical characterization of antennas for RFID applications, being these divided into tags RFID and antennas for RFID readers. Three tags RFID and two antennas for RFID readers, found in literature, are analyzed. The analysis of these structures is made using the Method of Waves - WCIP. Initial results found in the literature are compared with those obtained through simulations in WCIP with objective to show that the Method of Waves is able to analyze such structures. To illustrate the results obtained in simulations is presented the behavior of electric and magnetic fields. It also performed a literature review on the characteristics and principles of RFID technology. A an?lise dessas estruturas ? feita utilizando o M?todo das Ondas - WCIP.
