[en] HISTORY AND MEMORY OF GUADALUPE, A NEIGHBORHOOD IN THE SUBURB OF CARIOCA: FROM THE EXPLOSIONS IN THE PAIOL TO THE INTERVENTIONS IN THE FOUNDATION OF THE POPULAR HOUSE / [pt] HISTÓRIA E MEMÓRIA DE GUADALUPE, UM BAIRRO DO SUBÚRBIO CARIOCA: DAS EXPLOSÕES DO PAIOL ÀS INTERVENÇÕES DA FUNDAÇÃO DA CASA POPULAR

DANIEL ALBUQUERQUE ROCHA 13 December 2022 (has links)
[en] Guadalupe is a neighborhood in the carioca suburbia, located in the north area of Rio de Janeiro and many times represented by the precarity of services and the violence of its surroundings. However, there is few research about it s history and it s current reality. Guadalupe was deeply marked by the interventions by the Foundation of Casa Popular. Created during the government of Eurico Gaspar Dutra, this foundation aimed to expand housing policy in the country. Despite limited results of this foundation on a national and even municipal scale, the neighborhood of Guadalupe, specifically, was deeply impacted by it, being the place that received it s interventions in the country. Such interventions shaped the neighborhood and designed specific forms of sociability. Based on documentary research, in public funds about the neighborhood, in period newspapers in the national hemerotec library and with interviews with residents of the neighborhood, this thesis seeks to reconstruct the history of the neighborhood through the memory of it s inhabitants, thesis discusss about the memories of the residents, such as the explosions of the army paiol, located in the surroundings of the neighborhood, the ways of inhabiting projected by the foundation of Casa Popular, the fabric industry past of Guadalupe, as well as the countless manifestations of cultural and leisure there existing, like the bailes soul, the bate bola groups and the carnaval blocks. thus, it is intended to deconstruct the idea of Guadalupe as a dormitory neighborhood and underline the huge rich and diversity of it s history.
