Direkt Aktion och Direkt Demokrati : Analys av motiveringarna bakom det politiska agerandet av Återställ Våtmarkerna / Direct Action or Direct Democracy : Analysis of the motivations behind the political actions of Återställ Våtmarkerna

Rilde, Tim January 2024 (has links)
This study aims to establish an understanding about the climate organization ‘Återställ Våtmarkerna’ by identifying motives and considerations that influence the choices made surrounding their protest actions. The study analysed the expressed motivations of actors like the founders to establish motive frameworks. The study showed that the primary motives for the organizations choices is to both bring attention to the issue of the Swedish wetlands through acts of civil disobedience, while also using direct protest actions to achieve short-term goals where the government perceived to be too slow to act. Out of the two most frequent forms of protest, civil disobedience and direct action, civil obedience is observed to be the preferred method of protest. While the organisation frequently advocates for democratic reforms to increase citizen participation and implement institutions of direct democracy, the study shows that central actors within the organization rarely mentions democracy as a stated primary goal of protest actions.
