L’enracinement de Dorothée dans la tradition spirituelle du désert a procuré la méthodologie de ce travail. Ses textes sont étudiés en dialogue avec ceux de ses maîtres. Après des prolégomènes qui situent ce Père du VI° siècle dans son contexte, la première partie s’attache à définir ce qu’est l’humilité. L’idée fondamentale de Dorothée est mise à jour dans la seconde partie : la triple dynamique du bien. L’humilité en constitue une des composantes avec la charité et la connaissance de Dieu. Dorothée éclaire de manière particulièrement intéressante l’intervention de l’humilité dans l’accomplissement de l’acte bon. Dans cette seconde partie, la mission du Christ humble est aussi mise en évidence. Une troisième partie scrute tout d’abord comment celui qui est faible peut parvenir à la sainteté, puis explicite le rôle joué par l’humilité dans le combat spirituel et, enfin, son apport pour la promotion d’une authentique charité fraternelle / The anchoring of Dorotheus in the spiritual tradition of the desert provided the methodology of this work. His texts are studied in dialogue with his spiritual masters. After the prolegomena which place this father of the VI th century in his context, the first part focuses on defining what humility is. The fundamental idea of Dorotheus is brought to light in the second part: the triple dynamic of goodness. The humility constitutes one of its components along with the charity and the knowledge of God. Dorotheus clarifies in a particularly interesting manner the intervention of humility within the act of goodness. In this second part, the mission of the humble Christ is also highlighted. A third part examines at the beginning how someone who is weak can reach sainthood, then it explains the role played by the humility in the spiritual struggle and, finally, its contribution in promoting an authentic fraternal charity
