Predpříprava a svařování tlakových hliníkových potrubí / Preparation and welding of the pressure aluminium pipes

Kocák, Tibor January 2017 (has links)
The project is an analysis of technology production of pressure pipes made of aluminum alloys. The basis is a literary study of TIG technology, aluminum heat-tretable and non-heat-treatable materials. The flange-material is EN AW 5083 and the pipe is made of EN AW 6005A. The design of the welding is compromise between the preparation, the cleaning of the welding edges and the weld metal backing strip. Weld was made in real production. Examined impacts are evaluated on the basis of destructive and non-destructive welding test methods. After heating process of weldment material exhibits better mechanical properties. Using the economical and technological evaluation were selected sutiable proces parameters. The result is a suitable weld of the pressure vessel. Further optimization is possible through automation and robotics.

Effect of Accelerated Drying on the Reduction of Salmonella on Almonds by Thermal and Electron Beam Irradiation Pasteurization Treatments

Mohammed, Zahra Hassan 16 December 2013 (has links)
After two outbreaks of salmonellosis that were linked to the consumption of almonds in 2001 and 2004, scientific community and industry have encouraged the study of pathogen inactivation kinetics in almonds. However, these studies often have overlooked the increase of water resulting from the inoculation of almonds. This increase of free water may result in data that may be overestimating the final outcome of treatments applied to pasteurize almonds in industrial settings. Therefore, in 2011 a study of almonds was performed at Texas A&M University to determine whether there was a need for Aw restoration. In this study, the effect of accelerated drying on the reduction of Salmonella on almonds was investigated, Salmonella Entritidis PT 30 isolated from one of the outbreaks linked to almonds, and Salmonella Typhimurium LT2 were used. For irradiation, the effect of vacuum packaging and air packaging on the sensitivity of Salmonella to e- beam irradiation was evaluated for both accelerated drying and conventional drying. The D value for Salmonella Entritidis PT 30 when treated with blanching at 88°C with accelerated drying was 10.7± 0.1 s, and 12.8 ± 0.3 s with conventional drying. When subjected to oil roasting at 127˚C, the D values were 10.5 ± 0.1 s with accelerated drying, and 10.2 ± 0.2 s with conventional drying. For irradiation treatments, the D10 value for vacuum packaged almonds was 0.35 ± 0.02 kGy with accelerated drying, and 0.38 ± 0.04 kGy with conventional drying. When irradiated in the presence of air, the D10 value of Salmonella was 0.26±0.04 kGy for almonds with accelerated drying, and 0.29 ± 0.03 kGy conventional drying. In conclusion, the accelerated drying process resulted in greater reduction in Salmonella on almonds in comparison to conventional drying when subjected to blanching but no differences were found for oil roasting (P > 0.05). For e-beam irradiation the D_10 values were significantly greater (P < 0.05) for vacuum with accelerated drying than for Air almonds with accelerated drying. This indicates that if a process applied in the industry were to be developed based on challenge studies when conventional drying was achieved, the almonds might likely be subjected to a treatment that is stronger than necessary to achieve pasteurization.

On Properties of rw-Regular Graphs

Samani, Franklina 01 December 2015 (has links)
If every vertex in a graph G has the same degree, then the graph is called a regular graph. That is, if deg(v) = r for all vertices in the graph, then it is denoted as an r-regular graph. A graph G is said to be vertex-weighted if all of the vertices are assigned weights. A generalized definition for degree regularity for vertex-weighted graphs can be stated as follows: A vertex-weighted graph is said to be rw-regular if the sum of the weights in the neighborhood of every vertex is rw. If all vertices are assigned the unit weight of 1, then this is equivalent to the definition for r-regular graphs. In this thesis, we determine if a graph has a weighting scheme that makes it a weighted regular graph or prove no such scheme exists for a number of special classes of graphs such as paths, stars, caterpillars, spiders and wheels.

Philosophical themes in works of Stanislaw Lem

Morton, Luise H. January 1985 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis was to examine two works of science fiction by the Polish writer and satirist, Stanislaw Lem, which exemplify two broad philosophical themes central to his writings; viz., cosmology and personhood. In "The New Cosmogony," Lem focuses on the central problem of the philosophy of scientific cosmology, namely, what kind of explanation is-applicable to that science. Lem synthesizes religious and scientific views of the creation of the universe in his model of the cosmos as a Game of Civilizations with advanced technologies. Central to this work is the philosophical notion of intentionality. In "The Mask," Lem raises questions about personhood, consciousness, freedom, determinism, and responsibility by embedding them in the autobiographical narrative of a conscious, female machine. Lem's views on cosmology and his views on personhood both involve intentionality - the intentions of civilizations, on the one hand, and the intentions of a King and of the machine he created, on the other. Both works challenge all preconceptions about philosophy through the use of paradox, irony, and sometimes ridicule. Lem provides no answers, however. He is interested in setting up futuristic technological situations that are capable of undermining our basic assumptions about the world.

Obrábění součásti ze slitiny hliníku / Machining of aluminum alloy component

Lačňák, Martin January 2013 (has links)
The thesis focuses on the technology of production of the turbine-type component in Edwards company. It specifically focuses on the part of the turning production, in which in the first part an analysis of the component and the technologicity of its construction is created. Problematic aspects are analysed in terms of material structure and procedure technology. An evaluation of the former and the new supplier is made in terms of rationalization of material structure and their statistical evaluation of rationalization improvement towards keeping to geometrical tolerances. Grooving tools greatly influence the overall machining time during turning. An experiment is made to find out the measured values of the radial forces, the process of chip formation and surface roughness during grooving. The technology of procedure further deals with rationalization of the current machine OKUMA LU25-M and purchase of a new machine Mori Seiki NTX 2000, for which new tool equipment is made in cooperation with Walter company. The final technical-economical evaluation sums up all findings from the research of the given issue. In the discussion, further continuation is suggested for the research in the development and for the continuously controlled component productivity.
