Optimalizace parametrů SLM procesu při zpracování hliníkové slitiny AW2618 / SLM process parameters optimization for processing of AW2618 aluminum alloy

Těšický, Lukáš January 2017 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with possibilities for processing aluminium alloy EN AW 2618 using Selective laser melting (SLM). The theoretical part contains basic knowledge about production by this technology and possibilities of evaluation of relative density of samples. It also contains an overview of the current state of knowledge about the processing of aluminium alloys by SLM technology. Above all, aluminium alloys of the series 2000, where the main alloying element is copper. In the experimental part testing samples were designed based on the research. These samples can be divided into three areas: single-track specimens, volume samples and samples for tensile testing. Single-track and volume samples were used to find appropriate processing parameters to achieve a relative density close to full volume of material. For this purpose, the effect of the different scanning strategies on the relative density of the sample were examined. The limiting factor has been the occurrence of small cracks in the broad range of parameters studied. Mechanical properties of samples produced by SLM were compared with extruded material. It was found that the material processed by SLM achieves only half the yield strength and tensile strength of extruded material. This is mainly due to the occurrence of small cracks and other defects in the structure of the material.

Mechanické vlastnosti materiálů připravovaných pomocí procesu SLM / Mechanical properties of materials prepared by SLM process

Nopová, Klára January 2019 (has links)
The final thesis determined the properties of alloys formed from mixtures of powders processed by the SLM method. Powders of alloy AlSi12 and EN AW 2618 were fused in the proportion 75 wt. % AlSi12 + 25 wt. % 2618, 50 wt. % AlSi12 + 50 wt. % 2618 and 25 wt. % AlSi12 + 75 wt. % 2618. Metallographic analysis, EBSD analysis and line EDS microanalysis were made on the samples. Tensile test at room temperature and hardness were carried out to determine the mechanical properties. Fractographic analysis was performed after tensile test.

Effect of Trace Elements on the Particle Size of Magnesium Silicide in Aluminium Extrusion : The Use of Thermo-Calc and DICTRA in order to Produce Aluminium more Efficiently

Boustedt, Gustav, Nygren, Johan Alexander Valentin, Strandgård, Gustav January 2023 (has links)
This project is a feasibility study for Hydro Extrusion Sweden AB, a company that produces extruded aluminium profiles. The main purpose of this project was to analyse the difference of Mg2Si particle sizes in aluminium alloys when varying parameters, such as cooling rate and composition, in aluminium extrusion, particularly the EN AW 6082 alloy. The Mg2Si particles have a great impact on the product’s mechanical properties. This was done in order to investigate whether real-time process parameter control is possible or not. The main software used was Thermo-Calc and the add-on module DICTRA. Thermo-Calc was used to do equilibrium calculations and gather data for the alloy and its phases. Based on this information and data from Hydro, simulations in DICTRA could be performed. The results were then plotted with respect to time and radius. The findings indicate that the cooling rate significantly influences the particle size. As the process becomes more intricate and involves a greater number of trace elements, adjusting the cooling rate could potentially be employed as a means to address this issue. The results also showed that trace elements had a minimal effect on the particle size. However, this probably does not match the reality since other phases affect and block the growth of Mg2Si.The overall results indicate a positive outcome for using DICTRA in determining particle sizes. However, further research needs to be done in correlation with more experiments before this could be a viable research method for Hydro.

General Weighted Optimality of Designed Experiments

Stallings, Jonathan W. 22 April 2014 (has links)
Design problems involve finding optimal plans that minimize cost and maximize information about the effects of changing experimental variables on some response. Information is typically measured through statistically meaningful functions, or criteria, of a design's corresponding information matrix. The most common criteria implicitly assume equal interest in all effects and certain forms of information matrices tend to optimize them. However, these criteria can be poor assessments of a design when there is unequal interest in the experimental effects. Morgan and Wang (2010) addressed this potential pitfall by developing a concise weighting system based on quadratic forms of a diagonal matrix W that allows a researcher to specify relative importance of information for any effects. They were then able to generate a broad class of weighted optimality criteria that evaluate a design's ability to maximize the weighted information, ultimately targeting those designs that efficiently estimate effects assigned larger weight. This dissertation considers a much broader class of potential weighting systems, and hence weighted criteria, by allowing W to be any symmetric, positive definite matrix. Assuming the response and experimental effects may be expressed as a general linear model, we provide a survey of the standard approach to optimal designs based on real-valued, convex functions of information matrices. Motivated by this approach, we introduce fundamental definitions and preliminary results underlying the theory of general weighted optimality. A class of weight matrices is established that allows an experimenter to directly assign weights to a set of estimable functions and we show how optimality of transformed models may be placed under a weighted optimality context. Straightforward modifications to SAS PROC OPTEX are shown to provide an algorithmic search procedure for weighted optimal designs, including A-optimal incomplete block designs. Finally, a general theory is given for design optimization when only a subset of all estimable functions is assumed to be in the model. We use this to develop a weighted criterion to search for A-optimal completely randomized designs for baseline factorial effects assuming all high-order interactions are negligible. / Ph. D.

Jaisson, Pascal 13 October 2006 (has links) (PDF)

Digital watermarking in medical images

Zain, Jasni Mohamad January 2005 (has links)
This thesis addresses authenticity and integrity of medical images using watermarking. Hospital Information Systems (HIS), Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (P ACS) now form the information infrastructure for today's healthcare as these provide new ways to store, access and distribute medical data that also involve some security risk. Watermarking can be seen as an additional tool for security measures. As the medical tradition is very strict with the quality of biomedical images, the watermarking method must be reversible or if not, region of Interest (ROI) needs to be defined and left intact. Watermarking should also serve as an integrity control and should be able to authenticate the medical image. Three watermarking techniques were proposed. First, Strict Authentication Watermarking (SAW) embeds the digital signature of the image in the ROI and the image can be reverted back to its original value bit by bit if required. Second, Strict Authentication Watermarking with JPEG Compression (SAW-JPEG) uses the same principal as SAW, but is able to survive some degree of JPEG compression. Third, Authentication Watermarking with Tamper Detection and Recovery (AW-TDR) is able to localise tampering, whilst simultaneously reconstructing the original image.

Saborowski, Erik 31 January 2023 (has links)
For this purpose, equations are derived for the adhesion mechanisms of material, force and form closure using a minimal example, which link various surface characteristics (true surface, structure density, aspect ratio, undercuts, substructures) with the compound strength. Based on this, surface parameters (standardized roughness parameters, fractal dimension) are chosen that incorporate the adhesion-promoting structural features as comprehensively as possible. From this, hypotheses are derived that postulate the predictability of compound strength from surface parameters for thermoplastic-metal composites. Experimental verification is carried out on aluminum in compounds with polyamide 6 or polypropylene in hollow cylinder torsion tests, hollow cylinder tensile tests as well as tensile shear tests. The surface of the aluminum is structured by mechanical blasting, alkaline etching, thermal spraying and laser structuring. The surface structure is recorded tactilely and from transverse micrographs. The height of the compound strength can be explained on the basis of surface structure and, in part, quantitatively related with high correlation. However, in the case of tactile measurement, nondetection of certain structural features prevents accurate mapping of the actual surface structure. When recording the surface structure from cross-section images, the achievable image resolution and quality is the limiting factor. Likewise, no individual, structure-specific failure mechanisms can be derived from the surface structure.:Inhaltsverzeichnis 5 Abbildungsverzeichnis 9 Tabellenverzeichnis 14 Abkürzungsverzeichnis 16 Symbolverzeichnis 17 1 Motivation 20 2 Stand der Wissenschaft und Technik 22 2.1 Verwendete Begriffe 22 2.2 Verbundwerkstoffe und Werkstoffverbunde 22 2.2.1 Faser-Kunststoff-Verbunde 24 2.2.2 Polymer-Metall-Verbunde 25 2.3 Fügen von Polymer-Metall-Verbunden 27 2.3.1 In-Mold Assembly 28 2.3.2 Kleben 28 2.3.3 Montage 29 2.3.4 Thermisches Fügen 31 2.4 Prüfung der Verbundfestigkeit 34 2.4.1 Prüfkörpergeometrien 34 2.4.2 Beständigkeit gegen Umwelteinflüsse 36 2.5 Verfahren zur Vorbehandlung der Metalloberfläche 38 2.5.1 Mechanisches Strahlen 39 2.5.2 Laserstrukturieren 40 2.5.3 Chemische und elektrochemische Verfahren 43 2.5.4 Beschichten 43 2.5.5 Weitere Verfahren 44 3 Zusammenhang zwischen Oberflächenstruktur und Verbundfestigkeit 46 3.1 Haftungsmechanismen 47 3.1.1 Stoffschluss 48 3.1.2 Kraftschluss 50 3.1.3 Formschluss 51 3.1.4 Skalenabhängigkeit 53 3.1.5 Eigenspannungen 54 3.1.6 Folgerungen 54 3.2 Charakterisierung der Oberflächenstruktur und Korrelation mit der Verbundfestigkeit 55 3.2.1 Standardisierte Rauheitsparameter 56 3.2.2 Fraktale Dimension 58 3.2.3 Anwendungsbeispiel 59 4 Zielstellung 62 4.1 Folgerungen aus dem Stand der Wissenschaft und Technik 62 4.2 Forschungshypothesen 63 5 Experimentelle Vorgehensweise 64 5.1 Charakterisierung der Ausgangswerkstoffe 64 5.2 Vorbehandlung der Metalloberflächen 67 5.2.1 Mechanisches Strahlen und alkalisches Ätzen 67 5.2.2 Thermisches Spritzen 68 5.2.3 Laserstrukturieren 68 5.3 Charakterisierung der Oberflächenstruktur 69 5.4 Mechanische Verbundprüfung 71 5.5 Verwendeter Fügeprozess 73 5.6 Statistische Betrachtung 75 6 Ergebnisse und Diskussion 77 6.1 Verbundfestigkeit in Abhängigkeit von der Oberflächenvorbehandlung 77 6.1.1 Rohrproben 77 6.1.1.1 Oberflächencharakteristika und Benetzung 77 6.1.1.2 Verbundfestigkeit und Korrelation mit Oberflächenkennwerten 81 6.1.1.3 Bruchflächenanalyse 85 6.1.2 Zugscherproben 90 6.1.2.1 Oberflächencharakteristika und Benetzung 90 6.1.2.2 Verbundfestigkeit und Korrelation mit den Oberflächenkennwerten 91 6.1.2.3 Bruchflächenanalyse 93 6.1.3 Ergebnisdiskussion 95 6.2 Verbundfestigkeit in Abhängigkeit von der Skalierung 97 6.2.1 Oberflächencharakteristika und Benetzung 97 6.2.2 Verbundfestigkeit und Korrelation mit Oberflächenkennwerten 102 6.2.3 Bruchflächenanalyse 102 6.2.4 Ergebnissdiskussion 106 7 Zusammenfassung und Folgerungen 108 8 Ausblick 112 Literaturverzeichnis 115 Anhang 129

No. of bitstreams: 1 Nadia Vitoria Schurkim.pdf: 1334833 bytes, checksum: a149e06207c121e89e8a083ad1ee9cd9 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2017-10-23 / The object of the present study is the Chevron case, an accident occurred in Campos dos Goytacazes, 107 km from the coast of the State of Rio de Janeiro, in the Brazilian Exclusive Economic Zone, between November 2011 and March 2012, which caused damages to the environment due to the oil exploration activity, focusing on issues relevant to the application of criminal law in maritime areas, highlighted by the denunciation of the federal public ministry and judicial decisions handed down in criminal proceedings whose application and outlines are not peaceful, which justifies the relevance of this study. Throughout this research, the maritime domain, sovereignty and jurisdiction of the Brazilian State in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and the Continental Shelf (CS) will be analyzed. The problem is focused on the identification of the sovereignty of Brazil as a Coastal State, of the sea, sea surface and subsoil, the application of its legislative and judicial powers; in the verification if the EEZ and CS are part of the Brazilian maritime territory; in identifying the applicable legal regime in case of environmental crimes arising from the exploitation of oil in these maritime areas; extraterritoriality or territoriality of criminal law. The systematized study of the national and international legal system, through concepts of International Law, Criminal Law and Environmental Law, showed that the conflicts of interpretations observed in the case occur because the legal regime of EEZs and CS, established in UNCLOS III, when dealing with the distinction between rights of sovereignty and the jurisdiction of the coastal State does not provide clear definitions of maritime borders, providing a variety of interpretations.

Analýza svarů s využitím metody konečných prvků / Analysis of welded joints using Finite Element Method

Štěrba, Martin January 2018 (has links)
This diploma thesis is concerned with the numerical analysis of welded aluminim structures. In these structures, there are significant decreases in the mechanical properties at the area of the weld and in the heat affected zone as a result of welding. Within this thesis, simulations of quasi-statically loaded welded joints made from EN AW-6082 T6 alloy were performed to investigate the load capacity and ductility of these joints. Computations were performed using a programme system based on an explicit finite element method. To describe material anisotrophy, a nonlinear material model called the Weak texture model was chosen. Material properties of the weld and the heat affected zone were considered to be different from base material. The required material parameters were adopted from available literature, however, material tests and indetification procedure of these parameters were described. In comparison with the experimental data, the results of the numerical simulations showed a relatively good ability of models to capture load capacity of studied welded joints. Nevertheless, due to mesh sensitivity of models caused by localization of deformation, it was not possible to determine ductility of these joints.
