Problematika adiktologického klienta ve věznicích České republiky z pohledu sestry / Issue of addictologic patient in the Czech prisons the nurse point of view

Issue of addictologic patient in the Czech prisons - the nurse point of view Abstract The aim of the work: The aim is to define the needs of addictologic patient when entering prisons in the Czech Republic and to map how care about this patient is provided. Another aims defined the aspects which influence work of nurses and found out the nurses´ possibilities in care of those particular patients in prisons in the Czech Republic. Methodology: The qualitative survey was used to elaborate the thesis. The method of questionning was realized by semi-structured interviews. The research file was consisted of 15 nurses of the Prison Service and 15 clients entering the execution of sentence or custody and who were observed and checked because of their addiction to narcotics. The results were processed into 16 cathegories with the method of open coding and pencil and paper method. Results: The research investigation showed that the nurses are aware of the clients´ worries and needs when entering the prison. They try to saturate their somatic and mental needs. Care of those patients is provided according to the regulations which lead up to the timely revelation of possible health complications and starting the needed intervention. Work of nurses who care of addictologic patients is influenced by non-cooperation of clients, their bad adaptation to the new surroundings, but also higher rate of administration and insufficient number of medical staff. Benefits of the work: The benefit was to reveal the nurses´ possibilities in care of addictologic patients in prisons. Nurses should focus on appropriate communication, psychological support and motivate the client to cooperate. Knowledge gained from the research could be used to improve the care of addictologic patients in prisons in the Czech Republic.

In the academic year 2005/2006 the multidisciplinary bachelor's study field of Addictology began to be taught in the full-time form at the First Medical Faculty of Charles University in Prague for the first time. During its nearly ten years of existence it was taken and successfully completed already by several dosens of students, however, a complex feedback on the study design and work, have not yet been realized. The main idea of the presented thesis was to evaluate the full-time form of bachelor's study field of Addictology from the perspective of graduates, and develop recommendations to improve this study field. The main objective was achieved through the evaluation research consisting of the following three research lines: needs analysis, evaluation of satisfaction and process evaluation. Content analysis was used for this purpose and its research sample consisted of official documents concerning the conception of the bachelor's study field of Addictology, namely accreditation files of the bachelor's study field of Addictology from the years 2004, 2007 and 2011, as well as curricula and last syllabi. Study programme addictology and its graduates' characteristics analysis in the context of the field addictology development Amalie Pavlovská ABSTRACT Background: The addictions field has a long and diverse history including development of education for professionals who work in it. In last decades we witness an emergence of a new profession of addiction specialist. Based on analysis of the Czech study programme of addictology and the overview of similar programmes in abroad we identified a need for feedback how the graduates in specialized discipline are successful in entering the labour market, and integration into the existing service systems. Such an extensive survey has never been conducted in the CR, abroad we found only limited attemps. Aims: The main aim was to find out the employability rate of study programme addictology graduates and its specific characteristics, both from the view of the graduates and their possible emloyers. Background: The prevalence of substance use in the general population is commonly mapped, as is the issue of substance prevalence among drug users themselves. There is no official research in the Czech Republic that deals with the prevalence of substance use among workers in addictology services. Objectives: The aim of the research is to map the prevalence of the use of legal and illegal addictive substances in a selected research population. The results of the mapping will show which addictive substances are most frequently used by members of the research population, which substances have the highest lifetime prevalence and which substances are not very popular in this population. Methods: The basic orientation of the empirical survey was quantitative. Data were obtained through an online questionnaire survey. Out of the total number of 589 employees, 41.9% of employees of outpatient or low-threshold addictology services participated in the research, ie 247 respondents. Background: The Probation and Mediation Service plays an essential role in the execution of alternative sanctions for offenders who are often addictive users. During my practice I was intrigued by the scope and breadth of activities and the necessary knowledge of probation workers. Objectives: The aim of the thesis was describing the possibilities of using addictological knowledge and specialization of probation officers to work with clients using narcotic and psychotropic substances and to compare possible changes compared to the situation described by Gabrhelíková in her dissertation in 2010. Sample: The research sample consisted of probation officers and assistants of the Probation and Mediation Service Prague; 36 respondents were participated in the research. Methods: The research methods were a questionnaire survey, semi-structured interviews and also a case report of the Probation and Mediation Service client. The analysis of available documentation was used in the case report. Ethical principles were observed. Practice enable students to gain important professional and work experience that complete the theoretical preparation. This thesis is focused on the area of providing and offering student practice within the study of addictology from the view of all three involved parties, the university, the organization providing a practice realisation and the students. The theoretical part is the starting point of the whole work. It presents the basic methods of treatment used, the method of Equine facilitated activities and therapies itself and its inclusion in traditional methods of addiction treatment. The research part is based on qualitative data collection. Aims: The aim of the diploma thesis is to describe the use of equine facilitated activities and therapies in residential addiction treatment.
