Frittage conventionnel et par induction de composites à base d'argent pour les disjoncteurs de puissance / Conventional and induction sintering of silver base composites for circuit breakers

Biguereau, Edouard 03 July 2015 (has links)
Improving the manufacturing of the silver-based electrical contacts requires a better understanding and control of specific mechanisms involved during sintering. This work aims at identifying and explaining the effect of composition and process parameters on sintering mechanisms and final properties of Ag-C-Ni and Ag-WC composites in conventional and induction sintering.Sintering experiments have been carried out in a conventional way in a dilatometer allowing for a continuous monitoring of deformation and in an induction heating device allowing for high heating rates. In a first step, we focused on silver powder parameters (morphology and impurity content) to identify the densification mechanisms involved during pure silver sintering. We then studied the effect of reinforcement powders (nature, amount and size) on the sintering of composites. The results of these experiments showed that swelling and densification phenomena are competing during heating. We have determined, on one hand, that the swelling observed during heating originates from the local creep induced by the pressure inside the closed porosity and, on the other hand, that this swelling is influenced by the presence and the nature of the reinforcements, which modify the morphology and distribution of pores. Meanwhile densification is induced by classical sintering mechanisms. Finally we have shown that fast induction heating does not allow enough time for long-distance diffusion mechanisms and thus favors short-distance diffusion mechanisms, in particular interparticle bonding, in comparison with densification and swelling mechanisms, which are associated to long-distance diffusion. In the case of pure silver and Ag-C-Ni composites, induction sintering therefore enables good consolidation with less swelling than conventional sintering, resulting in better final properties.

A business plan for Wheat State Distilling

Bahre, David January 1900 (has links)
Master of Agribusiness / Department of Agricultural Economics / Major Professor Not Listed / This thesis was written as a business plan for the purpose of securing funds for a new micro distillery. Wheat State Distilling is an artisan distillery, manufacturing and selling premium hand-crafted spirits from the regions finest ingredients. I plan to distill premium vodka, whisky, bourbon, rum, gin and liqueurs as well as a luxury line of reserve products. Kansas established a micro-distillery license in July 2012 that opens up the market to this new type of business. The micro-distillery trend is growing across the U.S. and I plan to establish myself as a key player in the region. I will be entering the market early in the industry’s life cycle when consumer interest and demand are high. The proposed location in Wichita Kansas takes advantage of the largest city in Kansas with a metro area population of 630,721 in 2011. The location has visible signage from Interstate 135. The distillery will offer tours and a tasting room. We are able to give customers free samples and sell cocktails to induce purchase. We will use direct sales as well as restaurant and liquor store sales thru distributors. I will be marketing my premium products to upper-middle class and wealthy consumers. My extensive product line will allow marketing to a wide age range and to both sexes. We will focus on online and social media as well as distributor incentives and in-store promotions. Participation in local and regional events for sampling and advertising will increases brand awareness. Analysis of monthly production levels of each of the proposed product has been completed to maximize profits considering time and equipment constraints, cost of inputs and sale price. Regression analysis has been completed examining many factors that contribute to the selling price of micro distilled spirits. Financial models for years one through ten with risk analysis are included. If I reach my sales goals of 25,000 cases per year by year five, which is equal to my closest competition, High Plains Distilling, there is a potential for $548,500 or more per year in profit. I am seeking a loan for $300,000.

A feasibility study of the expansion of swine and management for Iowa State University’s AG 450 farm

Rinker, Skyler P. January 1900 (has links)
Master of Agribusiness / Department of Agricultural Economics / Allen M. Featherstone / For more than 70 years, the Iowa State University Ag 450 Farm has been in operation south of the Iowa State University (ISU) campus located in Ames, Iowa. The Ag 450 farm is currently the only student managed farm at a land grant university in the United States. The idea for the Ag 450 Farm was developed by Dr. William Murray in 1938 and in 1943, the Ag 450 class was first offered by Dr. Murray. At the farm, the core principals of agribusiness and farm management have been taught while adapting to an ever-changing agriculture. The Ag 450 Farm is considered the capstone course for the Iowa State University Agricultural Studies major. ISU Ag 450 is currently under the supervision of farm manager Greg Vogel and the Iowa State University Agriculture and Studies Department. Today, the Iowa State University Ag 450 students manage approximately 275 acres of owned ground, 700 acres of cash rented ground, 80 acres of crop share ground, and 800 acres of custom farmed ground depending on the year. Ag 450 represents a commercial farming enterprise of corn and soybean production as well as housing nursery piglets and custom finishing over 1000 head of feeder pigs. In its current condition, the ISU Ag 450 is looking to expand its operations to meet the demands Agricultural Studies majors at Iowa State University. A focus of the expansion is to increase the amount of custom finished feeder pigs by building another finishing facility. That type of expansion requires the need for another full-time farm manager. This research examines the feasibility of expansion of the swine and management to determine the impact this may have on the future viability of the farm.

Vidareutveckling av administrativt verktyg / Further development of an administrative tool

Lund, Philip, Karlsson, Filip January 2021 (has links)
In today’s society there is more data than ever before and data visualization has become an important part, a common way of visualizing data is in tables. In the essay it will be researched whether it is possible to implement a table from the library AG-Grid in an existing application and which functions it can have in the free version of the library AG-Grid. This was done by creating three new pages in an existing web application and trying to implement tables from the library AG-Grid with different functions. The results of the tests show that it is possible to implement the library AG-Grid in an existing application and get the desired functions for the tables, but for some functions own solutions are required in the free version.

An Endocannabinoid System Is Present in the Mouse Olfactory Epithelium but Does Not Modulate Olfaction

Hutch, C. R., Hillard, C. J., Jia, C., Hegg, C. C. 06 August 2015 (has links)
Endocannabinoids modulate a diverse array of functions including progenitor cell proliferation in the central nervous system, and odorant detection and food intake in the mammalian central olfactory system and larval Xenopus laevis peripheral olfactory system. However, the presence and role of endocannabinoids in the peripheral olfactory epithelium have not been examined in mammals. We found the presence of cannabinoid type 1 (CB1) and cannabinoid type 2 (CB2) receptor protein and mRNA in the olfactory epithelium. Using either immunohistochemistry or calcium imaging we localized CB1 receptors on neurons, glia-like sustentacular cells, microvillous cells and progenitor-like basal cells. To examine the role of endocannabinoids, CB1- and CB2- receptor-deficient (CB1-/-/CB2-/-) mice were used. The endocannabinoid 2-arachidonylglycerol (2-AG) was present at high levels in both C57BL/6 wildtype and CB1-/-/CB2-/- mice. 2-AG synthetic and degradative enzymes are expressed in wildtype mice. A small but significant decrease in basal cell and olfactory sensory neuron numbers was observed in CB1-/-/CB2-/- mice compared to wildtype mice. The decrease in olfactory sensory neurons did not translate to impairment in olfactory-mediated behaviors assessed by the buried food test and habituation/dishabituation test. Collectively, these data indicate the presence of an endocannabinoid system in the mouse olfactory epithelium. However, unlike in tadpoles, endocannabinoids do not modulate olfaction. Further investigation on the role of endocannabinoids in progenitor cell function in the olfactory epithelium is warranted.
