Titre de l'écran-titre (visionné le 25 octobre 2023) / Ce mémoire présente deux projets de recherche réalisés dans le cadre de l'amélioration continue des soins entourant la chirurgie bariatrique, soit par l'optimisation des résultats des patients et par la réduction des effets indésirables ou complications. « Long Alimentary Limb Duodenal Switch (LADS): an Exploratory Randomized Trial, Results at Two Years » est un article présentant les résultats et le profil de complications entourant une nouvelle technique chirurgicale, le LADS, comparée à la dérivation biliopancréatique avec permutation duodénale conventionnelle (DBP/DS). À 2 ans, la perte de poids du LADS est significativement inférieure à la DBP/DS. Aucune différence n'a été identifiée entre les deux chirurgies pour ce qui est des complications et de la qualité de vie. « The Impact of Gripping Surface Technology Cartridges on Mean Number of Cartridges Used and Complication Rate in a Cohort of 1277 Sleeve Gastrectomies » est un article présentant les résultats d'une nouvelle technologie de cartouches d'agrafes chirurgicales. Cette étude de cohorte rétrospective suggère que la nouvelle technologie, comparée à l'ancienne, est tout à fait sécuritaire pour le patient, mais ne réduit pas le nombre moyen de cartouches utilisé pour chaque cas. / This university dissertation presents two research projects conducted as part of the continuous improvement of care surrounding bariatric surgery, both by optimizing patient outcomes and by reducing adverse events or complications. At 2 years, the weight loss of LADS was significantly lower than DBP/DS. No differences were identified between the two surgeries in terms of complications and quality of life. This retrospective cohort study suggests that the new technology, compared to the old technology, is quite safe for the patient, but does not reduce the average number of cartridges used per case.
