Barbier Flores, Natalie Ruth 26 May 2023 (has links)
The purpose of the present investigation was to analyze the relationship between aggressiveness and emotional intelligence [EI] in children and adolescents from public and private schools in Metropolitan Lima. The sample was made up of 233 children and adolescents from 9 to 14 years old (M = 12.19; SD = 1.68). The instruments used were: TMMS-24 (Salovey and Mayer, 1997) to assess Perceived Emotional Intelligence and the Aggression Questionnaire (Buss y Perry, 1992) to assess Aggression factors, both adapted and validated in Spanish by Fernández- Berrocal et al. (2004) and Vigil-Colet et al. (2005), respectively. Small inverse correlations were found between the emotional regulation factor with physical aggression, verbal aggression and general aggression; In addition, a direct and low relationship was obtained between emotional perception and anger. They were all significative. By segmenting the analysis according to sex and age, higher levels of physical aggression were observed in men and higher levels of anger in women. The first results will corroborate the hypotheses raised; however, the relationship between EI and the anger factor is far from theory and requires further study.
