AN ITERATIVE METHOD OF SENTIMENT ANALYSIS FOR RELIABLE USER EVALUATION

Jingyi Hui (7023500) 16 August 2019 (has links)
<div> <div> <p>Benefited from the booming social network, reading posts from other users overinternet is becoming one of commonest ways for people to intake information. Onemay also have noticed that sometimes we tend to focus on users provide well-foundedanalysis, rather than those merely who vent their emotions. This thesis aims atfinding a simple and efficient way to recognize reliable information sources amongcountless internet users by examining the sentiments from their past posts.<br></p><p>To achieve this goal, the research utilized a dataset of tweets about Apples stockprice retrieved from Twitter. Key features we studied include post-date, user name, number of followers of that user, and the sentiment of that tweet. Prior to makingfurther use of the dataset, tweets from users who do not have sufficient posts arefiltered out. To compare user sentiments and the derivative of Apples stock price, weuse Pearson correlation between them for to describe how well each user performs. Then we iteratively increase the weight of reliable users and lower the weight ofuntrustworthy users, the correlation between overall sentiment and the derivative ofstock price will finally converge. The final correlations for individual users are theirperformance scores. Due to the chaos of real world data, manual segmentation viadata visualization is also proposed as a denoise method to improve performance.Besides our method, other metrics can also be considered as user trust index, suchas numbers of followers of each user. Experiments are conducted to prove that ourmethod out performs others. With simple input, this method can be applied on awide range of topics including election, economy, and job market.<br></p> </div> </div>

Smartphone technology : everyday prompts for those with prospective memory difficulties following brain injury

Ferguson, Scott January 2013 (has links)
BACKGROUND: Prospective memory difficulties are one of the most common deficits following acquired brain injury. The application of smartphones as a compensatory aid to these difficulties has shown promising results. This study looked to investigate these benefits further. OBJECTIVE: The aims of this study were to investigate whether receipt of reminder prompts through ones smartphone improved completion of pre-planned tasks, in addition to whether it also had secondary implications for participant's wellbeing, confidence, independent functioning, and whether it had any impact on caregiver strain levels. METHOD: This study used an ABAB case series design with mild to moderate acquired brain injury. Task completion rates were monitored across four phases (prompts vs. no prompts). Quantitative questionnaires were administered pre, post and at three months follow up to assess coping with memory difficulties. A qualitative questionnaire explored the perceived impact of the smartphone reminders on everyday functioning, in addition to a 3 month follow up measure assessing attrition rates in smartphone use. RESULTS: Visual inspection analysis suggested greater task completion when reminders were provided. The quantitative questionnaires showed increased use of a Smartphone as reminder device post intervention and at follow up. A basic thematic analysis highlighted a perception that the smartphone system increased task completion, confidence in coping with memory demands, supported emotional wellbeing and reduced dependence on others. As a memory aid it was also less stigmatising and promoted dignity. The three month follow up questionnaire highlighted that all participants continued to use their smartphone as a memory aid. CONCLUSIONS: Use of a smartphone as a memory compensation aid may improve completion of pre-set tasks. Secondary benefits may include increased confidence in coping with memory demands, reduced dependence on others for help, and reduced anxiety or frustration around forgetting.

Génération automatique de configurations et de scénarios d'utilisation d'outils de visualisation à partir de spécifications de tâches d'analyse de logiciels

Sfayhi, Ahmed 04 1900 (has links)
We propose an approach that derives interactive visualization scenarios from descriptions of code analysis tasks. The scenario derivation is treated as an optimization process. In this context, we evaluate different possibilities of using a given visualization tool to perform the analysis task, and select the scenario that requires the least effort from the analyst. Our approach was applied successfully to various analysis tasks such as design defect detection and feature location.

Vyhledávání informací v mobilním prostředí / Information Seeking in the Mobile Environment

Matula, Kamil January 2022 (has links)
MATULA, Kamil. Information Seeking in the Mobile Environment. Praha: Univerzita Karlova, Filozofická fakulta, Ústav informačních studií a knihovnictví, 2021. Ph.D. Thesis. Supervisor PhDr. et Bc. Jindra Planková, Ph.D. Abstract The dissertation thesis deals with information seeking in mobile environment using smartphone. For this purpose, a qualitative research is conducted, devided into two consecutive research activities. In the first activity are used semistructured interviews to collect the data and the grounded theory is used for data analysis. In the second activity are used methods "thinking aloud" and practical information seeking based on model scenarios. Results of the second research activity are evaluated by thematic analysis and task analysis. The findings have broadenend and deepend the state of current knowledge concerning the information seeking in the mobile environment. We consider exploration of limiting factors that affect information seeking in mobile environment as one of the most beneficial result as well as discovery of two extreme styles of information seeking in mobile environment. Keywords Information Behaviour; Information Seeking; Information Retrieval; Mobile En- vironment; Mobile Information and Communication Technologies; Qualitative Research; Semistructured Interview; Thinking...
