A local with city's traditional cultural facilities and holder of a set built that is a synthesis of the images of the neighborhood, it fears that this increase in the potential for movement and flows of use stimulate speculation and deployment of a bulk type of activity incompatible with the preservation the architectural heritage. Intended to illustrate the need to consider other information that might help in the revitalization of the neighborhood, this research presents the offer cultural tourism of Ribeira and identifies and maps certain physical attributes that, combined with functional attributes, can stimulate or inhibit the diversity and vitality in the region / Ao considerar que interven??es urbanas, previstas e executadas recentemente em Natal, RN, devam inserir a Ribeira um dos n?cleos fundadores nos novos limites do centro expandido da cidade, este trabalho analisa a utiliza??o desta nova acessibilidade (facilidade de acesso) em benef?cio do surgimento de uma infra-estrutura de apoio a um tipo de turismo visto atualmente como alternativa de diversifica??o para ?reas monopolizadas pelo turismo de sol e mar (caso da capital potiguar). Sede de equipamentos culturais tradicionais da cidade e detentor de um conjunto edificado que ? uma das imagens s?ntese do bairro, teme-se que este aumento no potencial de movimento e fluxos de usos estimule a especula??o imobili?ria e a implanta??o em massa de um tipo de atividade incompat?vel com a preserva??o do patrim?nio arquitet?nico. Importante setor da economia natalense, o turismo vem se mostrando uma atividade propulsora de transforma??es urbanas relacionadas a mudan?as na acessibilidade. Argumenta-se que o turismo cultural, freq?entemente utilizado em planos e projetos de interven??o em todo o Pa?s, possa ser fator de desenvolvimento sustent?vel e de conserva??o do patrim?nio (material e imaterial), contribuindo para o processo de revitaliza??o da Ribeira como centro hist?rico-cultural. Com a inten??o de ilustrar a necessidade de se considerar outras informa??es que possam vir a ajudar nesse processo, esta pesquisa exp?e a oferta tur?stico-cultural da Ribeira e identifica e mapeia determinados atributos f?sicos que, aliados a caracter?sticas funcionais, podem incentivar ou inibir a diversidade e a vitalidade na regi?o
