Sammanfattning Arbetsmarknadspolitiska program är ett sätt att komma tillrätta med arbetslösheten. Forskning gällande arbetslösa har till stor del utgått ifrån ett hälsoperspektiv. Utvärderingar som gjorts på programmen fokuserar oftast på själva programmen och inte på individerna som deltar i dem. Därför fann vi det intressant att undersöka detta. Syftet med denna uppsats är att beskriva och analysera vad det innebär för långtidsarbetslösa när de går från öppen arbetslöshet till medverkan i ett arbetsmarknadspolitiskt program. Studien har ägt rum i två arbetsmarknadspolitiska program som tillhör samma kommunala verksamhet och riktar sig till långtidsarbetslösa. Studien bygger på en kvalitativ metod och intervju med sju deltagare och två arbetsledare inom programmen. Det empiriska materialet analyseras utifrån Giddens struktureringsteori, Bourdieus handlingsteori och Ezzys teori om status passage och identitet genom berättelse. Resultatet av studien visar att individerna påverkas av flera strukturella förändringar när de går från öppen arbetslöshet till medverkan i ett arbetsmarknadspolitiskt program. Ur resultatet kan vi utläsa förändringar av tidsanvändningen, sysselsättningsgraden, det sociala kontaktnätet, gemenskapen och synen på sig själv. Vi fann också att dessa förändringar påverkar och påverkas av varandra. Resultatet visar att flertalet av deltagarna upplever förändringarna som positiva och deltagandet i programmet ger dem ökat hopp att få en anställning. / Abstract Labour market programs are one way to tackle the problem of unemployment. Research concerning unemployed often focuses on a health perspective. Evaluation of the programs often focuses on only the programs themselves and therefore gives the participants little attention. We therefore found the participants as an interesting aim for our study. The purpose of this studie is to describe and analyze what happens to the longterm unemployed individuals when they enter a labour market program. The study took place in two labour market programs directed to longterm unemployed individuals. The qualitative method used for collecting data contained seven interviews with unemployed people in the program and two interviews with program supervisors. We used theories from Giddens, Bourdieu and Ezzy and created a theoretical frame applied in analyzing the material. The results of the studie shows that several structural alterations appears when a individual enters a program after have been unemployed for a long time. The study shows alterations in use of time, the degree of activation, the social network and the perception of themselves. We also found that the alterations affected each other. Most of the individuals in the programs had a positive attitude to the alterations and they also experienced an increase in hope of getting a job when they entered the program.
