Este estudo sobre comércio nos bairros populares de São Paulo entre os anos de 1914- 1921 aborda os armazéns de secos e molhados. Apresenta o segmento sob a perspectiva de cinco estudos de caso de negociantes que atuaram em diferentes bairros da cidade. Analisa o perfil desses negociantes a partir dos informes contidos nos processos de inventário das famílias. As fontes permitiram identificar a localização dos estabelecimentos, os vínculos familiares dos comerciantes, as formas de propriedade, o porte dos negócios, as mercadorias vendidas e as relações de crédito praticadas por esses comerciantes. Estas características foram interpretadas e relacionadas com a expansão demográfica e a diversificação econômica vigentes no período. / This study about commerce at the popular districts in the city of São Paulo between the years of 1914-1921 approaches the armazéns de secos e molhados. It shows the segment under the perspective of five study-cases about family businesses in different districts of the city. The analysis of the profile of these merchants was made from the information collected in the family inventories. The source allows identify the establishment`s location, the merchant`s family laces, the forms of propriety, the size of the businesses, the goods sold and the credit relations established by these merchants. These characteristics were interpreted and linked to the demographic expansion and economic diversification who took place in the period.
