Assim, mesmo com a vasta bibliografia sobre o arquiteto ainda é possível levantar alguns pontos a serem esclarecidos sobre sua obra,a qual surpreende desde o início pela forma como a tecnologia do concreto armado foi utilizada e pela estética. Neste trabalho, a princípio, buscou-se identificar e discutir questões teóricas relevantes sobre a obra de Niemeyer e sobre a relação da arquitetura com a estrutura de uma edificação, das quais se destacam algumas questões como: Quando realmente podemos considerar que houve integração entre arquitetura e estrutura de uma edificação; Porque as obras de Niemeyer se destacam em relação à estética e porque a estética e a beleza são tão importantes para uma edificação; e em quais aspectos as obras de Niemeyer contribuíram para a inovação da tecnologia do concreto armado. Além da revisão teórica, esta pesquisa optou por apresentar estudos de caso de estruturas de edifícios Oscar Niemeyer. Assumiu-se, portanto,como estudo de caso as edificações da Igrejinha da Pampulha em Belo Horizonte e do Pavilhão da Gameleira, edifício que também seria construído em BH. Então, após pesquisa de revisão bibliográfica e documental sobre as edificações escolhidas e visitas a uma delas, foram desenvolvidos modelos numéricos tridimensionais no software SAP2000, versão 14, com o objetivo de descrever e analisar a estrutura das mesmas. Foram utilizados também softwares como AutoCAD e Sketchup como apoio a modelagem no SAP2000. No caso da Igrejinha da Pampulha o estudo de caso buscou essencialmente investigar o funcionamento da estrutura construída. Já no caso do Pavilhão da Gameleira o estudo buscou descrever a estrutura da edificação até onde era possível com as informações disponíveis e trazer uma reflexão sobre um caso que não foi bem sucedido. __________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / Despite the work of architect Oscar Niemeyer have a great acknowledgment in Brazil and in the world, there are still gaps in knowledge about how was defined the structural system and the construction method of some buildings designed by him. Even with the vast literature on the architect, is still possible indicate some points of his work to be explored. Work which surprises since the beginning by how technology of reinforced concrete was used and aesthetics. In this research, at first, we attempted to identify and discuss relevant theoretical questions about Niemeyer’s work and about the relation of architecture with the structure of a building, which stand out the following questions: When can we actually consider that there was integration between architecture and structure of a building; why Niemeyer's works are considered beautiful and why esthetics and beauty are so important to a building, and in which aspects the works of Niemeyer contributed to the technology innovation of reinforced concrete. Besides the theoretical review, this research opted to present case studies of structures of buildings designed by Oscar Niemeyer. It was assumed, therefore, as a case study the buildings of Pampulha’s Church (Igreja da Pampulha) in Belo Horizonte and Gameleira Pavilion (Pavilhão da Gameleira), a building that would also be built in BH.Then, after a literature review, documental research about the chosen building and visits one of them, numerical three-dimensional models were developed in SAP2000 software. We also used softwares such as AutoCAD and Sketchup support for modeling in SAP2000. In the case Pampulha’s Churchthe case studyessentiallytried toinvestigate the functioning ofthe built structure. In the caseof theGameleira’s Pavilionthe study lookedto describe the structureof the building,as far aspossible, withthe informationavailableandto ponder ona case thatwas notsuccessful.
