The analysis done on the literary collection tried to show that the treatment of artistic objects should take into account the hybrid reality of the department. The differences regarding to the understanding, classification and description of the work of art from an archival or museological view corresponds directly to the way in which it is preserved and disseminated. Based on this analysis, conservation and dissemination strategies were suggested and discussed with the purpose of promoting the preservation of the artistic ensemble in the department. The study carried out is based on the premise that critical reflexive research in the cultural heritage preservation field constitutes the basis for an improvement in the actions aimed at safeguarding cultural assets. / Esta pesquisa tem por objetivo analisar o conjunto de obras de arte pertencente ao acervo do Arquivo-Museu de Literatura Brasileira, da Fundação Casa de Rui Barbosa, a partir de um enfoque preservacionista. A análise feita sobre o acervo literário procura mostrar que o processamento dos objetos artísticos deveria levar em conta a realidade híbrida do setor. As diferenças quanto ao entendimento, classificação e descrição da obra de arte a partir de uma visão arquivística ou museológica, correspondem diretamente à forma pela qual ela passa a ser preservada e divulgada. Partindo desta análise foram sugeridas e debatidas estratégias de conservação e difusão com o intuito de fomentar a preservação do conjunto de obras no setor. O estudo realizado insere-se na premissa de que a investigação crítico-reflexiva no campo da preservação do patrimônio constitui a base para um aprimoramento nas ações voltadas à salvaguarda dos bens culturais.
