Orientador: Sílvia Maria Azevedo / Banca: Orna Messer Levin / Banca: Álvaro Santos Simões Junior / Resumo: Neste trabalho estão transcritas integralmente, com ortografia atualizada, as crônicas publicadas por Artur Azevedo, sob o pseudônimo de Eloi, o herói, no periódico Diário de Notícias, do Rio de Janeiro, entre junho de 1885 e junho de 1886. Trata-se de uma seção intitulada "De palanque", para a qual o cronista apresentou um programa bastante genérico, abrangendo os assuntos comuns que agitavam a vida dos habitantes da capital do império, mas também os relacionados à vida artística. Teatro, literatura, música, pintura e escultura são temas bastante recorrentes nesses artigos. A Dissertação está estruturada em três capítulos: no primeiro, fazem-se algumas considerações sobre a produção intelectual de Artur Azevedo, enfatizando-se, porém, sua atuação enquanto crítico de jornais; apresenta-se também o perfil do Diário de Notícias e faz-se uma caracterização geral das crônicas, destacando-se os temas abordados, o processo de elaboração formal, bem como os recursos de comicidade e riso utilizados pelo autor. Devido à grande quantidade de textos nos quais o jornalista comentou sobre o teatro, o segundo capítulo é inteiramente dedicado a essa manifestação artística. Nele, apresenta-se um breve esboço de parte da história das companhias dramáticas, nacionais e estrangeiras, que ocupavam as oito principais casas de espetáculo da Corte; fazem-se algumas observações sobre a relação do cronista maranhense com o teatro amador, e ainda destacam-se os elementos utilizados em sua crítica teatral. No terceiro capítulo, estão contempladas a literatura, a música, a pintura e a escultura, de modo que nele se pode perceber a dinâmica de vários intelectuais, dentre eles o próprio Artur Azevedo, envolvidos na propagação dessas... (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: In this work there are the chronicles with an updated orthography published by Artur Azevedo under Eloi pseudonym, a hero, at Diario de Noticias periodical, Rio de Janeiro, between June 1885 and June 1886. It is about a section entitled "De palanque", to what the columnist showed a very generic program including ordinary issues that agited the life of the empire‟s capital inhabitants, and also the issues related to artistic life. Theatre, literature, music, painting and sculpture are themes very important in these articles. The dissertation is structured in three chapters: in the first there are important considerations about Artur Azevedo intellectual production emphasizing his performance as a newspaper critic. We also show the Diario de Notícias profile and make a general chronicles characterization, pointing out the mentioned themes, the process of formal elaboration, and the author comics recourses as well. Due to a big quantity of texts in which the author talked about the theatre, the second chapter is totally dedicated to this artistic manifestation. In this chapter there is a sketch of national and foreign dramatic companies history, that were in the eight main dramatic Court houses; some observations are done about the relation of the maranhense columnist with the amateur theatre and we still emphasize the elements used in his theatrical criticism. The third chapter is about literature, music, painting and sculpture, in a way that is possible to see the dynamics of several intellectuals involved in spreading these artistic manifestations. Orientador: Álvaro Santos Simões Junior / Banca: Sílvia Maria Azevedo / Banca: Larissa de Oliveira Neves / Resumo: Esta dissertação se propõe a abordar as seções de crônicas ―Crônica Fluminense‖ e ―Teatros‖, ambas de Artur Azevedo, que as publicou respectivamente com os pseudônimos A. e X.Y.Z., na revista literária O Álbum (1893-1895), cuja direção era de sua responsabilidade. Buscou-se considerar a temática e a fatura dos textos em sua relação com o contexto histórico do final do século XIX, bem como apresentar um panorama do periódico para discernir sua linha editorial e conhecer o papel de Artur Azevedo como diretor literário e responsável por outros textos da revista. Para tanto, no volume 1, a introdução traz uma revisão de literatura sobre o autor em questão, para apontar a contribuição deste trabalho frente aos estudos já publicados. No primeiro capítulo, aborda-se a revista, com o cuidado de apontar o momento, tanto social quanto literário em que circulou, assim como proporcionar uma visão geral dos colaboradores e dos textos veiculados. Ressalte-se que, mesmo nessa parte, a ênfase recai sobre a produção de Azevedo. O segundo capítulo traz, em específico, a leitura da seção ―Crônica Fluminense‖, tendo em vista que o objetivo desta dissertação é tratar do trabalho de Azevedo como cronista e diretor da revista literária, dois perfis que a leitura dessa crônica permite alcançar. No terceiro e último capítulo, aborda-se a seção ―Teatros‖, que possibilita distinguir muitos dos elementos apontados como comuns - em outros estudos - na crônica/crítica teatral azevediana e ainda, um melhor entendimento da dramaturgia no final do século XIX. Finalmente, nos volumes 2 e 3, há a reprodução fac-símile do hebdomadário devido à importância de conhecer as crônicas em seu suporte / Abstract: This paper is intended for addressing ―Crônica Fluminense‖ and ―Teatros‖, two chronicles sections written by Artur Azevedo and published under the pen name A. and X.Y.Z, respectively, in O Álbum (1893 - 1895), a literature magazine directed by the writer himself. It was sought to consider the thematic and structure in relation to the history context of late 19th century, as well as to present an overview of this magazine in order to distinguish its editorial line and comprehend the role of Artur Azevedo as literature director and responsible for the texts of this magazine. In order to do so, in Volume 1, there is an introduction with a literature review about the author to indicate the contribution of the present work to the studies previously published. In the first chapter, the magazine is presented, and the social and literary moment it was published is carefully highlighted, besides providing a general view of collaborators and texts. It is emphasized that, even in this part, the emphasis is on Azevedo's production. The second chapter is especially about the reading of ―Crônica Fluminense‖, since the purpose of the present work is to deal with Azevedo's work as writer and director of the magazine, two shapes the reading of this chronicle allows to outline. In the third and last chapter, it is studied the section ―Teatros‖, which enables the discrimination of a number of elements already appointed as usual - in previous studies - in Azevedo's theatrical chronicle/review, and also a better understanding of the dramaturgy of late 19th century.
