I intend to analyses and discuss how build the garbage collectors knowledge in relation with the waste at the dump context in Santo Amaro city, in Bahia. The garbage, as necessary element goes to a process of recoding for collectors that experience daily, producing, with this, new narratives and a belonging identity. Want to intend the cognitions that separate clean/dirty, new/old, sacred/profane, allowing being beyond of the binary representation system. Social marks of difference like race, gender, class and generation are essentials to comprehension the relations. Each one with their specific contributes to distinguish understandings about garbage and the live in the dump. The analyses is done about collectors knowledge to break prejudices about the activity of scavenging, visualizing in this form new possibilities for dealing with waste and promote public policies from the Brazilian context of horizontalized way.

Efficient Algorithms for Load Shuffling in Split-Platform AS/RS

Hu, Yahong, Hsu, Wen Jing, Xu, Xiang 01 1900 (has links)
We address the issue of shuffling loads in Automated Storage/Retrieval Systems (AS/RS) in this paper. The objective is to pre-sort the loads into any specified locations in order to minimize the response time of retrievals. 1D, 2D and 3D AS/RS racks have been designed in order to achieve the shuffling efficiently. The shuffling algorithms are described in detail. The response time of retrieval, the lower and upper bounds of energy consumption are also derived. Results of the analysis and numerical experiments show that the shuffling algorithms are quite efficient. / Singapore-MIT Alliance (SMA)
