_______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / The present study deals with the inclusion of Music as a subject in the Serial Assessment Program - PAS, from the University of Brasilia - UnB. It approaches the issues of its insertion and history in this program. The purpose of the study has been to assess HOW and WHY Music became part of a program that aims to select candidates to the undergraduate courses of UnB. The method employed consisted on the analysis of documents produced by the Centre for Selection and Promotion of Events - CESPE, from UnB, as well as interviews using Thematic Oral History. The results demonstrate that the insertion of Music in PAS is due to the presence of members of the Institute of Arts of UnB in the meetings of the Centre for Teaching, Research and Extension - CEPE, from UnB, and to the intervention of those individuals - professor Vicente Martinez and professor Conrado Silva - who argumentated, according to the current academic view, that the Arts (Music, Theatre and Visual Arts) are each a field of knowledge that collaborate in the general education of the individual.
