Um oposicionista na política baiana dos anos 1990: a trajetória de Paulo Jackson Vilasboas

Graduated in Engeneering at Politechnical School at the Federal University of Bahia – UFBA. In 1980's he was considered to be one of the main union people from Bahia, being the president of the Water and Sewer Workers Union – SINDAE. However, it was in 1990's, when political forces linked to the present senator Antônio Carlos Magalhães dominated the politics in the state mentioned above that Paulo Jackson was considered one the main opposers to the dominant group. From 1993 to 2000 he was state deputy in the Legislative Assembly in Bahia, becoming known not only the by his opposition to a movement called 'Carlismo' but also by his peculiar life by its political coherence and defense of important issues like water and sanitaton for the whole population. / Paulo Jackson Vilasboas nasceu em Caetité, no sertão da Bahia, em 8 de junho de 1952 e morreu em 19 de maio de 2000, no município de Morro do Chapéu, também no sertão. Formado em Engenharia pela Escola Politécnica da Universidade Federal da Bahia - UFBA, na década de 1980 destacou-se como um dos principais sindicalistas baianos, tendo sido presidente do Sindicato dos Trabalhadores em Água e Esgoto - SINDAE. Entretanto, foi durante a década de 1990, quando as forças políticas ligadas ao atual senador Antônio Carlos Magalhães dominavam a política no estado, que Paulo Jackson se destacou como um dos principais opositores ao grupo dominante. No período de 1993 a 2000, atuou como deputado estadual na Assembléia Legislativa da Bahia, tornando-se conhecido por ter feito oposição ao Carlismo, mas também por uma trajetória marcada pela coerência política e pela defesa de causas importantes como água e saneamento para toda a população.
