Petríčková, Lucie January 2014 (has links)
(in English): The goal of this dissertation is to demonstrate that the novel Where Tigers Are at Home from the French author Jean-Marie Blas de Roblès belongs to baroque aesthetics. The main terms are explained in the first part and also the formal side of the novel is described there. In the second part then is briefly mentioned the life of the author Jean-Marie Blas de Roblès and the plot of the novel. Chapters concerning the individual baroque characteristics are found in the third part. At the beginning we can find the chapter treating the typification of the characters, following are the chapters about inconstancy, theatre of the world, women in the novel, morbidity and brutality, baroque blending of passion and faith, chapters discussing intertextuality and symbolism and at the end is the chapter dealing with the blending of the author with the novels characters. A specific feature that is found in baroque literature is treated in each chapter and then applied on the text of the novel. After considering all of these baroque features I clearly proved with this dissertation that the novel shows such an amount of baroque features that it belongs to the baroque aesthetics.

The thesis also mentiones other well-known glass cutters, particularly Christian Gottfried Schneider. The chapters dealing with the development of the shape and ornament of Silesian Baroque cut glass are important for correct classification by periods and localities. A study of François Couperin¡¦s ¡§L¡¦art de toucher le clavecin¡¨

Wang, Hsin-i 11 February 2007 (has links)
At the end of nineteenth century, as a result of the revival of the early music, harpsichord, the most important instrument in the Baroque period, was emphasized again and back to the stage. However, without any recordings been made and left, the scores and the documents became the significant references for the interpretation. This study will discuss about the performance practice issues in French composer François Couperin¡¦s treatise ¡§L¡¦art de toucher le clavecin¡¨. The representative of Couperin¡¦s work is his four harpsichord books. In his 1716¡¦s treatise ¡§L¡¦art de toucher le clavecin¡¨, he explained the performance practice issues of his harpsichord music. The discussion includes the body gesture, articulation, tempo, characteristic of the instrument, ornamentation, fingering, notes inégales and the tradition of prelude. Moreover, he composed eight preludes and put them at the end of the treatise for practicing. Although the treatise was not the only one which discussed about harpsichord at that time, it is rare that composers wrote instruction for other musician in order to interpret his own music. This study includes three parts. First, the development of the harpsichord music in baroque period and François Couperin¡¦s life are introduced. The second part explicate the historical background of the François Couperin¡¦s four harpsichord collections, eight preludes and ¡§L¡¦art de toucher le clavecin¡¨. The third part focuses on discussion of the performance practice. Finally, the conclusion will be made.
