The scope of the search will be the reconstruction of the state of the intellectual environment in the emergence of the moment called Madrugada Club. Our aim will be through the work of the writer's analysis Amazonas Benjamin Sanches (1905-1978), an important member of the Madrugada Club, measure the scope of the changes implemented by members of the club. Madrugada Club was created in 1954 by a group of middle-class young people in order to overcome the cultural stagnation that plagued the state of Amazonas, especially in Manaus. Given that the socio-cultural panorama of the city of Manaus that period is still academically little considered and that existing approaches are surrounded by an aura of mystification, and provided more than encyclopaedic and informative than the critical value, we propose here is a point of discussion sociological view, from a more incisive glance to determine the gains and limits of this movement which was very important for strengthening an Amazonian intellectuality and can contribute greatly also to the understanding of the formation of Brazilian society and socio-cultural diversity. / Este trabalho visa apresentar uma análise crítica do cenário sociocultural do Estado do Amazonas, mais especificamente da cidade de Manaus, entre as décadas de 50 e 60. O escopo da pesquisa será a reconstrução do ambiente intelectual do Estado no momento de surgimento do chamado Clube da Madrugada. Nosso intuito será através da análise da obra do escritor amazonense Benjamin Sanches (1905-1978), importante integrante do Clube da Madrugada, mensurar o alcance das transformações postas em prática pelos integrantes do referido clube. O Clube da Madrugada foi criado em 1954 por um grupo de jovens da classe média no intuito de suplantar o marasmo cultural que assolava o estado do Amazonas, especialmente em Manaus. Tendo em vista que o panorama sociocultural da cidade de Manaus do referido período ainda é academicamente pouco considerado e que as abordagens existentes são rodeadas por uma aura de mistificação, e dotadas mais de valor enciclopédico e informativo do que crítico, propomos aqui uma discussão do ponto de vista sociológico, a partir de uma mirada mais incisiva para averiguar os ganhos e limites desse movimento que foi muito importante para fortalecimento de uma intelectualidade amazonense e que pode contribuir imensamente também para a compreensão da formação sociedade e da diversidade sociocultural brasileira.
