The technological development in each age of civilization has influenced, modified and marked the culture and way of understanding the time and the way People live. Today, with the fast and constant transformations, schools have to offer OU educational system has to offer more than mere certificates of knowledge assimilation. It is not enough to train people to simply dominate machines or strengthen the consumerism, education needs to play its true role of preparing citizens for this complex and challenging world by exercising people capable of dealing with innovations and being able to critically analyze the range of information they can easily access. This issue is even more evident when we deal with the formation of Modern Languages teachers, once is under this professional responsibility to effectively develop oral and written language skills, which, after all, will allow students to access the world. Identifying these demands and challenges, we analyze how Portugal, with the same Brazilian mother language, has dealt with the growing technological progress, the reflexes in its educational context and, at the same time, how teachers are being prepared to act in the knowledge society. During the field research in these countries, we analyze not only the teachers’ pedagogical practice, mediated by the technologies for teaching the mother language, but also the physical space and the instruments that teachers have. We aim to (re) see and (re) think how the use of technologies can contribute with teachers work in the classroom, verify how - and if - the Language Teachers have been instrumented during the under graduation to act in Basic School and to deal with impacts on language, which directly influence their discipline. This study allows us to glimpse the school day to day and brings notes that support the work of the Brazilian teacher inserted in a scenario that is far from encompassing the demands and needs of the current society, trying to perceive the formation and the relevance of the professor of Modern Language in the world context. Finally, we consider aspects of the teacher's performance in a society that longs for a critical and reflective formation, since it lacks information and lacks depth, as we propose that the use of technologies in the classroom is another way to reach the product we are targeting. / O homem vem construindo sua história mediada pelas tecnologias que lhe são contemporâneas. O desenvolvimento tecnológico de cada época da civilização influenciou, modificou e marcou a cultura e a forma de compreender o tempo e o modo de vida de um povo. Atualmente, com transformações tão rápidas e constantes, a educação escolar tem que oferecer mais do que meros certificados de assimilação de saberes. Não basta treinar pessoas para simplesmente dominar máquinas ou fortalecer o consumismo, a educação precisa assumir seu verdadeiro papel de preparar cidadãos para esse mundo complexo e desafiador, ao formar pessoas capazes de lidar com as inovações e saber analisar criticamente a gama de informações a que têm fácil acesso. Essa questão é ainda mais evidente quando tratamos da formação do professor de Letras, uma vez que cabe a este profissional o desenvolvimento efetivo da linguagem oral e escrita, pois afinal, é por meio do domínio da língua que o educando terá acesso ao mundo. Identificadas tais exigências e desafios, analisamos como Portugal, com a mesma língua materna do Brasil, tem lidado com o crescente avanço tecnológico, os reflexos no seu contexto educacional e, ao mesmo tempo, como se dá a formação docente para atuar na sociedade do conhecimento. Na pesquisa de campo nesses países – Brasil e Portugal -, analisamos não só as práticas pedagógicas dos professores, mediadas pelas tecnologias para o ensino da língua materna, como também o espaço físico e os instrumentos que os professores dispõem. Objetivamos (re)ver e (re)pensar como o uso das TIC podem contribuir com o trabalho do professor em sala de aula, verificar como - e se - o professor de Língua Portuguesa tem sido instrumentalizado durante a formação inicial para atuar na Educação Básica e lidar com os impactos na Língua, que influenciam diretamente sua disciplina. O estudo permite vislumbrar o acontecer no dia a dia escolar e traz apontamentos que venham favorecer o trabalho do professor brasileiro inserido em um cenário que está longe de abarcar as exigências e necessidades da sociedade atual, tentando perceber a formação e a relevância do profissional de Letras no contexto mundial. Por fim, ponderamos sobre aspectos da atuação do professor em uma sociedade que anseia por uma formação crítica e reflexiva, uma vez que esbanja informação e carece de profundidade, assim como propomos que o uso das TIC em sala de aula seja mais um caminho para se chegar ao produto que objetivamos.
