Although this context brings on to unique forms of life for all border residents of the three countries, our interest in children of the fifth grade of elementary school focuses on their perceptions of the place where they live, characterized by the gathering of several load activities of goods coming from Paraguay. The child, understood through the theoretical contributions of the child and childhood anthropology, is seen as an actor in social constitutions and also as producer of culture. Under an interdisciplinary perspective, the research was conducted in a public school, through ethnographic research and psychology and educational psychology proper techniques, so that the children could make drawings and, with them, express their life story. One of the perceptions pointed that being a child, in that neighborhood, is living under mistrust looks and experiencing mixed feelings when referring to the adults job, but also undergoing feelings of care and protection of those adults towards them. Residents, in those children s perception, are not smugglers, or muambeiros as called by locals, neither the bosses nor "chiefs" of the network that loads goods, and don t even buy them. / Esta dissertação tem como objetivo apresentar as percepções das crianças sobre a escola e o bairro onde vivem, às margens do rio Paraná, em Foz do Iguaçu. Embora esse contexto dê lugar a formas de vida singulares para todos os moradores fronteiriços dos três países, nosso interesse nas crianças de quinto ano do ensino fundamental concentra-se em suas percepções sobre o espaço onde residem, caracterizado por reunir diversas atividades de transporte de mercadorias vindas do Paraguai. A criança, compreendida por meio das contribuições teóricas da antropologia da criança e da infância, é vista como atuante nas constituições sociais e, também, produtora de cultura. Sob uma perspectiva interdisciplinar, a pesquisa foi realizada em uma escola pública, através da pesquisa etnográfica e de técnicas próprias da psicologia e psicopedagogia, com o objetivo de que as crianças pudessem produzir desenhos e, com eles, expressar a sua história de vida. Uma das percepções evidenciadas é que ser criança, neste bairro, é viver sob olhares de suspeita e experimentar sentimentos ambíguos quando se referem ao trabalho dos adultos, mas também experimentar sentimentos de cuidado e proteção desses adultos para com eles. Os moradores, na percepção das crianças, não são muambeiros não são os chefes e nem patrões da rede que transporta mercadorias, e nem as compram.
