Organic Space

Gardner, Lisa 01 January 2007 (has links)
My works evolve from a concrete vision but tend to lack recognizable imagery. Color and texture are central to my process. By isolating the element of color, I strive for purely formal qualities in my color field paintings. Working on textured suraces, such as burlap, allows me to capture textural elements, which further adds to the aesthetic components of my art. The lack of realistic imagery provides an opportunity for the viewer to personally interpret the visual elements. It is my objective that during the aesthetic experience, the viewer becomes captivated by the unique ways that colors play within tiny sections of the composition.

Plant Selection and Selecting Your Plants

Davison, Elisabeth, Begeman, John, Tipton, Jimmy, DeGomez, Tom 04 1900 (has links)
Revised; Originally Published: 2000 / 8 pp. / Whether you are beginning a new landscape or renovating an existing one, planning ahead can prevent many problems. The majority of maintenance requirements and plant problems result from either selecting the wrong kind of plant for a location or planting an inferior specimen of the selected plant type. In other words, there are two decisions to be made: ▪ What species, or kind, of tree are you going to buy — an oak, pine, mesquite, or acacia? ▪ Assuming you decide on an oak, which one in the row of oaks at the nursery are you going to buy? The first decision is called Plant Selection and the second is Selecting Plants. Our goal is to install the right plant in the right place. This publication will cover the factors involved in making good decisions to achieve this goal.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Marilia de Macedo Almeida.pdf: 1574286 bytes, checksum: 9ecc280d0bfae3bf8142507c99cf37b2 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-07-07 / Comprising about twice the amount of C of the atmosphere and plant biomass compartments. In this context, the present study aimed to determine the carbon stocks in soils under Mata Atlantica State Park Dois Irmãos (PEDI), and chemical and physically characterize the soil of this area. The collections were made inside the Place, one of the areas of study of the Research Programme on biodiversity (PPBio). Composite soil samples were collected by three simple samples of layers 0-5, 5-10, 10-20, 20-30 and 30-50 cm depth of soil, on 16 points, making a total of 80 soil samples. The collection of litter in the forest floor was stocked held on 16 points, with the use of feedback with dimensions of 0.50 x 0.50 m. Soil chemical analysis determined the pH and the availability of the elements: Mg2+, Al3, Na+, K+ and Al+ exchangeable, H+Al, P, S, C organic and N total. In addition, the physical analysis, particle size and density of the soil, for the calculation of carbon stocks. In Burlap, were determined by chemical analysis the values of organic matter; N by ammonia distillation; and the elements P, Ca, Mg, Na, K and S, after digestion nitric perchloric. It was found that the content of nutrients in litterfall (Ca, Mg, K, S and N) is responsible for the maintenance of soil fertility and that of 50-70% of the carbon stock is accumulated in the first 30 cm of soil, influenced by the amount of organic matter in surface, however the contribution of 0-5 cm layer was less relevant because of the sandy texture highlighting the importance of the contribution of clay for protection and maintenance of organic matter in the soil system. / A matéria orgânica do solo constitui o maior reservatório de carbono do solo, comparada à fração mineral. As análises químicas do solo determinaram o pH e a disponibilidade dos elementos: Mg2+, Al3, Na+, K+ e Al+ trocáveis, H+Al, P, S, C orgânico e N total.
