This thesis describes continuing development of new programming language C Plus conceived in earlier Bachelor’s Thesis oriented on enhancing C language with high level constructs with no additional cost. During development, several important languages were compared and C Plus along with its grammar were expanded, advantages of additions were discussed and compared with solutions in other languages. Described enhancements were implemented in the compiler.

The topic of the master's thesis is about transmission of multimedia via network with help of compression’s algorithm used in codec MPEG-4 part 10 and Real Time Protocol (RTP). First part of this master thesis will be familiarization with basic terms about multimedia. It will be queried about techniques of compression axioms for audio and video, justification for necessary use of compression in transmitting multimedia via network. Also, here will be subscribed principles and properties of Real Time Protocol, which was designed for multimedia stream. From the start, competent codec for implementation of two applications (client, server) with read raw video and audio data, will choose the following : compression with help of codec Theora (Vorbis), transfer via network in RTP packets, decode and play at visual form for end user. Complete subscription of implementation for both applications written in programming languages C/C++ and Java, will be certain. The basic overview about this problematic experience with implementation, which were here concluded, are the reasons for reading this master thesis.

Social Responsibility within the Fast Food Industry : An exploratory study on factors influencing consumers' socially responsible behavior to guide companies' CSR work

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore the factors that influence consumers to act socially responsible (CnSR) to provide guidance for CSR work practices in the context of fast food. Method: To answer the research questions a qualitative method has been used where empirical findings have been collected through secondary data and 16 semi-structured interviews. The study has been guided by a deductive approach where an analytical framework, based on previous research, has been the basis when collecting and analyzing the data. Conclusions: One conclusion that can be drawn is that fast food companies are working with the environmental aspect of CSR. Although, the current efforts are not enough to encourage consumers’ socially responsible (CnSR) behavior. Another conclusion of this study is that even though consumers have a positive attitude toward CSR, internal and external factors, especially environmental knowledge, motivation, and economic factors, have an influence on CnSR behavior not being achieved in the context of fast food. Value was the only factor that seemed to result in CnSR behavior. For this reason, fast food companies should provide more concrete information and offer smaller menus or trial samples at a lower price to increase consumers’ motivation to behave socially. Consequently, this could also make them value the more sustainable products in the future. Lastly, another conclusion is that Consumer-Company congruence (C-C congruence) was not achieved as there existed a lack in consumer CSR credibility and consumer CSR awareness. Based on this, it is obvious that fast food companies need to improve both their marketing communication on social media and their in-store promotion.

<b>Design and Evaluation of High Emissivity Coatings for Carbon/Carbon Composites</b>

<p dir="ltr">During atmospheric re-entry, the hypersonic leading edges can experience enormous heat fluxes, with surface temperatures greater than 1600℃ expected. While carbon/carbon (C/C) is a candidate material for leading edge structures, it is prone to oxidation and ablation damage above 500℃. Ablation-resistant coatings can protect the C/C, while emissivity can be engineered to lower the leading-edge surface temperature via radiative cooling. In this dissertation, a novel bilayer coating system and a multilayer coating system based on individual layers consisting of ultra-high temperature ceramics (borides, carbides), refractory oxides (zirconia), and rare-earth oxide as emissivity modifiers were applied to a C/C surface via pack cementation and plasma spray. Ablation tests were performed to evaluate the efficacy of the multilayer coatings in simulated high heat flux environments. <a href="" target="_blank">The spectral emittance of the rare-earth modified topcoat ZrO<sub>2</sub> was measured at high temperatures up to 1200</a>℃ using a benchtop emissometer. ZrO<sub>2</sub> stabilized with 6 mol% Sm<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> demonstrated a maximum spectral emissivity of 0.99 at λ = 12.5 µm proving its effectiveness in cooling the leading edge surface through enhanced thermal radiation.</p><p dir="ltr"><a href="" target="_blank">The bilayer coating system comprised of Sm<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>-stabilized ZrO<sub>2</sub> topcoat layer and SiC intermediate sublayer on C/C. </a><a href="" target="_blank">This coating significantly improved the ablation resistance of C/C by reducing the mass ablation rate by ~71%. Despite a significant thermal expansion coefficient mismatch between the substrate and the coating, a well-defined mechanical adhesion characterized by the anchors was observed in pre- and post-ablated coating microstructures, indicating their influence on improving ablation resistance.</a></p><p dir="ltr"><a href="" target="_blank">The multilayer coating architecture consisted of SiC, ZrB<sub>2</sub>-SiC, ZrC-ZrO<sub>2</sub> sublayers and a Sm<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>-ZrO<sub>2</sub> topcoat. The as-sprayed coating microstructure demonstrated well-defined adhesion between the layers and the substrate without forming major voids or cracks. The multilayer coating with optimized</a> sublayer thickness demonstrated excellent ablation and mass erosion resistance as they reduced the mass ablation rate of C/C by ~90% after being subjected to an aggressive oxyacetylene torch heating for 60 s. During testing, the Sm<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>-stabilized ZrO<sub>2</sub> topcoat acted as oxygen and thermal barrier, protecting the underlying sublayers from oxidation-induced damage while maintaining a constant surface temperature of ~2100 ℃. Additionally, the high spectral emittance of topcoat material contributed to efficient outward heat transfer via thermal radiation from the external surface while maintaining a constant temperature.</p>

Pedestrian Dynamics: Modeling and Analyzing Cognitive Processes and Traffic Flows to Evaluate Facility Service Level

Walking is the oldest and foremost mode of transportation through history and the prevalence of walking has increased. Effective pedestrian model is crucial to evaluate pedestrian facility service level and to enhance pedestrian safety, performance, and satisfaction. The objectives of this study were to: (1) validate the efficacy of utilizing queueing network model, which predicts cognitive information processing time and task performance; (2) develop a generalized queueing network based cognitive information processing model that can be utilized and applied to construct pedestrian cognitive structure and estimate the reaction time with the first moment of service time distribution; (3) investigate pedestrian behavior through naturalistic and experimental observations to analyze the effects of environment settings and psychological factors in pedestrians; and (4) develop pedestrian level of service (LOS) metrics that are quick and practical to identify improvement points in pedestrian facility design. Two empirical and two analytical studies were conducted to address the research objectives. The first study investigated the efficacy of utilizing queueing network in modeling and predicting the cognitive information processing time. Motion capture system was utilized to collect detailed pedestrian movement. The predicted reaction time using queueing network was compared with the results from the empirical study to validate the performance of the model. No significant difference between model and empirical results was found with respect to mean reaction time. The second study endeavored to develop a generalized queueing network system so the task can be modeled with the approximated queueing network and its first moment of any service time distribution. There was no significant difference between empirical study results and the proposed model with respect to mean reaction time. Third study investigated methods to quantify pedestrian traffic behavior, and analyze physical and cognitive behavior from the real-world observation and field experiment. Footage from indoor and outdoor corridor was used to quantify pedestrian behavior. Effects of environmental setting and/or psychological factor on travel performance were tested. Finally, adhoc and tailor-made LOS metrics were presented for simple realistic service level assessments. The proposed methodologies were composed of space revision LOS, delay-based LOS, preferred walking speed-based LOS, and ‘blocking probability’.

La degradación ambiental se ha convertido en un importante problema al que deben enfrentarse la ciencia y la tecnología. Los temas tratados en este trabajo, pretenden aunar, con la introducción de los líquidos iónicos en distintos procesos, la preocupación por el medio ambiente y las inquietudes constantes del progreso. Es por esto que lo largo de esta tesis se han desarrollado nuevos sistemas catalíticos basados en líquidos iónicos, que seguidamente se han aplicado a procesos químicos de interés: - Se ha realizado un estudio de la transposición de Beckmann de oximas cíclicas para la obtención de los monómeros que posteriormente conformarán las fibras de nailon, empleando para ello líquidos iónicos como catalizadores y medios de reacción y estudiando mediante técnicas de resonancia magnética nuclear, el mecanismo que se lleva a cabo en este proceso. - Por otra parte se ha preparado y caracterizado completamente un material híbrido orgánico-inorgánico-metal, mediante el intercambio parcial de los protones de un polioxometalato con la unidad catiónica de un líquido iónico y Pd2+. Este material, como catalizador heterogeneo permite llevar a cabo la reacción de Heck de acoplamiento C-C. - Finalmente se han desarrollado organocatalizadores con características de líquido iónico, que poseen también bifuncionalidad ácido-base, con capacidad para emular la actividad de determinados sistemas enzimáticos.
