Air chamber design charts.Galatiuk, William Robert January 1973 (has links)
The air chamber has certain advantages over both the open-top surge tank and the valve-type surge suppressor for controlling pressure surges in pump-discharge lines.
The main purpose of this study was to produce charts which can be used for designing or checking the size of an air chamber required for a particular pumping installation.
The characteristics method was used to convert the two partial differential equations of momentum and continuity into four total differential equations. The solution of the equations (finite-difference form) was carried through by digital computer to provide the data required for the preparation of the charts.
Results obtained on the digital computer by the method of characteristics are checked by the graphical method.
Examples demonstrating the use of the charts are included. / Applied Science, Faculty of / Civil Engineering, Department of / Graduate

É da maior importância o estudo na formação de um critério de aceitação amplo da análise de vibração aplicado as bombas verticais centrífugas / Abstract: In this study sought to evaluate the vibrational behavior of a vertical centrifugal pump during operation in the field, that is, the customer premises, and compare the data obtained regarding the acceptance criteria used by the manufacturer using standards norms. For this, it was necessary to know how the test is performed pump performance, which points determined by measurement standards norms, for a better analysis was necessary to include new points studied in this dissertation. We used the analysis of vibration time, frequency, displacement and velocity. The results obtained from the tests were processed through the signal processing technique that best fits the analysis investigated. Were tested, analyzed and commented on the results of this experimental work. It is of utmost importance to study the formation of a broad acceptance criterion of vibration analysis applied vertical centrifugal pumps / Mestrado / Mecanica dos Sólidos e Projeto Mecanico / Mestre em Engenharia Mecânica
