What is water worth? : recreational benefits and increased demand following a quality improvement

Kinell, Gerda January 2008 (has links)

This study focuses on valuation of natural resources and particularly valuation of the quality of a natural resource. The aim is to value an improvement of water quality, measured as sight depth, in the bay Himmerfjärden in the Stockholm archipelago. It is desirable to attain a value of a one metre sight depth improvement in Himmerfjärden and to analyse how a sight depth improvement affects the demand for travelling to Himmerfjärden. A condtional logit model is applied to obtain these values from survey data. The benefits of a one metre sight depth improvement in Himmerfjärden, will yield 162 260-1 599 420 SEK per year, adjusted to the price level of 2007. The estimated value depends on how travel time is treated and whether a commute variable is included or not. Furthermore will a one per cent sight depth improvement in Himmerfjärden increase the demand for travelling to Himmerfjärden with approximately 0.13-0.18 trips on a given choice occasion. These results indicate that there are values attained to the quality of a natural resource.

Estimating wildlife viewing recreational demand and consumer surplus

Mingie, James Cory 06 August 2011 (has links)
Motivated by the increasing popularity of wildlife viewing and a growing emphasis on management for nontimber outputs, wildlife viewing demand was assessed. Specific objectives included determining factors affecting participation and frequency of use, and furthermore, deriving 2006 nationwide wildlife viewing consumer surplus estimates. With the travel cost method as the theoretical basis, the empirical estimation method employed was a two-step sample selection model that included a probit first step and a negative binomial second step. Consumer surplus per trip estimates ranged from $215.23 to $739.07 while aggregate national estimates ranged from $44.5 billion to $185.1 billion. Results reveal that age, race, and urban residence affect participation and frequency similarly. This research can help policymakers in particular better understand determinants of wildlife viewing participation and frequency. The value of wildlife viewing access can be used to justify funding initiatives aimed at protecting or managing for this use.

Příprava a hodnocení ekonomické efektivnosti vybraného investičního projektu / preparation and evaluation of economic efficiency of selected investment project

Valášková, Petra January 2014 (has links)
The main goal of this study is to show a preparation of an investment project aimed on heating in a concrete company and to evaluate an economic effectiveness of the individual possible variants of the project. The project is unique due to particular financing from European union's grants and due to a goal of the company to meet new emission norm. The study is divided to three parts. In the first part, a theoretical one, is described a preparation of the project and an administration process of providing the grand from European Union funds. The second chapter deals with identification of the concrete investment project and the conditions of its evaluation. Moreover, important information about investor and circumstances of the investment project realization are discussed in this chapter. Finally, the process of the concrete grant approval is analyzed. The third part evaluates economic effectiveness according to cost measures and to net present value of the individual project variants. Because of a different lifespan of project variants the cost annual equivalent and the annuity equivalent has to be used. The results of cost measures and net present value are different. This pointes to the difference between cost only view and complex cash flow view. The final overall evaluation takes into consideration the ecologic part of the project. The final resolution has to make a compromise between various measurements. The study evaluates a real project. Therefore, the data are also based on reality.

A Consumer Surplus Estimate of Peace & Love festival in Borlänge : A Travel Cost Approach

Gailis, Janis January 2014 (has links)
This thesis uses zonal travel cost method (ZTCM) to estimate consumer surplus of Peace & Love festival in Borlänge, Sweden. The study defines counties as zones of origin of the visitors. Visiting rates from each zone are estimated based on survey data. The study is novel due to the fact that mostly TCM has been applied in the environmental and recreational sector, not for short term events, like P&L festival. The analysis shows that travel cost has a significantly negative effect on visiting rate as expected. Even though income has previously shown to be significant in similar studies, it turns out to be insignificant in this study. A point estimate for the total consumer surplus of P&L festival is 35.6 million Swedish kronor. However, this point estimate is associated with high uncertainty since a 95 % confidence interval for it is (17.9, 53.2). It is also important to note that the estimated value only represents one part of the total economic value, the other values of the festival's totaleconomic value have not been estimated in this thesis.

Ocenění privátní firmy / Private Company Appreciation

Horová, Denisa January 2010 (has links)
The master thesis deals with the appreciation of medical practice premises. Methods which are used, described and analyzed in the thesis, represent the standard expert methods for business valuation. These are supplemented by specific procedures used for determining the value of medical practices in particular. The work also describes the health care system of the Czech Republic, the methods and sources of payment for medical treatments, value generators in medical practices and basic procedures for identifying approximate value of medical practice, eventually of its goodwill. On practical example of medical practice there are described and applied also the scientific yield methods, which can derive the value of this type of business quite accurately. In the conclusion there are also discussed some currently used but not entirely accurate valuation processes.

Aktualizace výpočtu objemových podílů při ocenění staveb nákladovým způsobem podle oceňovací vyhlášky / Updates the calculation of volume fractions at the valuation of construction with cost method in conformity with valuation decree

Röderová, Alena January 2013 (has links)
This thesis is mainly focused on comparing the volume of shares ( share price ) according to the valuation of Decree No. 3/2008 Coll . with realistic pricing structures shares (focusing mainly on houses ), especially with regard to the influence of the floor structures and equipment , which is the number of floors does not change or changes only slightly (foundations, roofing, roofing , doors). Draft criteria which should be considered superior design and when they should be valued at cost using the design calculation as specified . The focus of the work is in Chapter 6 , where the budget is drawn up for each particular house floors. Number of floors is subsequently increased up to eight and is an analysis of the price curve of the shares of structures and equipment. Attached is a visual graphical representation . My work will serve to optimize the methodology for determining the volume fractions of structures and equipment construction cost valuation method .

Vliv rekonstrukce rodinného domu v závislosti na lokalitě / The Influence of Renovating a House Depending on the Location

Vitálišová, Kristína January 2019 (has links)
The main aim of Diploma thesis is to evaluate the family house before and after reconstruction in three different locations graded by population. Three selected methods are used for the valuation, namely: the cost method according to the valuation regulation, the comparative method according to the valuation regulation, and the method of direct comparison. The cost method takes into account the design of the family house in both states, the land is valued by direct comparison. Key indexes are taken into account in the comparative method according to the valuation rule. In the direct comparison method, we work with a database of single-family houses in a range of locations.
