A obtenção de programas NC capazes de assegurar uma usinagem adequada da cavidade depende, basicamente, dos recursos oferecidos pelo sistema e da experiência do programador. Desta forma, a obtenção da qualidade superficial da cavidade a ser usinada dependerá da capacidade do programador atribuir as condições tecnologicamente mais indicadas para fresar cada forma geométrica, atividade esta muitas vezes realizada de forma empírica.
