Portanto, neste trabalho são observadas as características do conhecimento matemá- tico abordado quanto à modelagem, são analisadas as estratégias utilizadas pelos estudantes para a construção do modelo e a matemática por eles utilizada na busca de soluções aos problemas propostos. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida com alunos do 3º ano do ensino médio, em uma escola pública do município de Erechim/RS. O trabalho se caracteriza como uma observação sistemática, tendo como foco o fenômeno educacional, analisando as informações obtidas por observação direta e contínua. Com este trabalho é possível identificar que a abordagem da Modelagem Matemática no ensino de Matemática evidencia outros saberes matemáticos que vão além de executar algoritmos. / In the literature of Mathematical Modeling it is possible to find several works that discuss their objectives and benefits related to education, but there is a certain lack of work that specifies the type of mathematical knowledge that is developed through these activities. Therefore, in this work the characteristics of the mathematical knowledge approached in terms of modeling are analyzed, the strategies used by the students to construct the model and the mathematics used by them in the search for solutions to the proposed problems are analyzed. The research was developed with students of the 3rd year of high school, in a public school in the municipality of Erechim / RS. The work is characterized as a systematic observation, focusing on the educational phenomenon, analyzing the information obtained by direct and continuous observation. With this work it is possible to identify that the approach of Mathematical Modeling in the teaching of Mathematics evidences other mathematical knowledges that go beyond executing algorithms.
