This dissertation sought to investigate whether the choice of partner for dating and marriage is made randomly or whether there are determinants that condition this choice. In view of this, we analyzed the effects of education and income on the probability of miscegenation for racial groups, that is, for whites and blacks and blacks and blacks. The microdata of the National Household Sample Survey (PNAD) from 1992-2013 were used, analyzing heterosexual couples aged 26-35 years. To achieve the results of the research, the methodology used was the probit model. The results showed that both the whites and the whites richest and with the highest level of schooling are miscegenated less than the blacks that are in this situation. On the other hand, both whites and whites less wealthy and less educated mix more than the richest and least educated blacks.
