En la hospitalización pediátrica, los cuidados de enfermería son fundamentales, especialmente durante “la inserción y mantenimiento de catéteres venosos periféricos.” Esto requiere de conocimientos, experiencia y habilidad de las enfermeras, quienes tienen la responsabilidad de prevenir complicaciones como flebitis o extravasaciones durante su uso. Se realizó una investigación adicional “con el propósito de evaluar” la eficacia de la identificación de factores de riesgo relacionados con flebitis y las intervenciones de enfermería para su prevención. Se utilizó el esquema PIS. Frente a la problemática se planteó la pregunta clínica:” ¿Es importante la intervención de Enfermería en la prevención de los factores de riesgo químicos y mecánicos relacionados con flebitis, en niños y adolescentes? La exploración de medios probatorios que se realizó en diversas bases de datos, como “Google Académico, Scielo Medline, PubMed, Science Direct, obteniendo un total de 386 artículos. Se seleccionaron 11 artículos, y finalmente se usó la guía de veracidad y autenticidad visiblemente de Gálvez Toro, seleccionando el artículo, “efecto de flebitis en pacientes pediátricos que cuentan con catéter periférico en una Institución de Manizales.” El artículo seleccionado fue analizado con la “guía de lectura complicada de documentos de índole original en Salud de Astete, considerando que presentaba evidencia moderada, clasificándolo como nivel de veracidad II-3 y “grado de recomendación C.” Los resultados respondieron al objetivo identificando factores que alerten para prevenir la aparición de flebitis garantizando el cuidado y la seguridad del paciente pediátrico. / In pediatric hospitalization, nursing care is essential, especially during the insertion and maintenance of peripheral venous catheters. This requires knowledge, experience and skill of nurses, who have the responsibility of preventing complications such as phlebitis or extravasations during use. An additional investigation was carried out with the purpose of evaluating the effectiveness of the identification of risk factors related to phlebitis and nursing interventions for its prevention. The PIS scheme was used. Faced with the problem, the clinical question was posed: “What is the effectiveness of nursing interventions in preventing chemical and mechanical risk factors related to phlebitis in children and adolescents?” The exploration of evidentiary means was carried out in various databases, such as “Google Scholar, SCielo Medline, PubMed, Science Direct, obtaining a total of 386 articles. 11 articles were selected, and finally Gálvez Toro's veracity and authenticity guide was used, selecting the article, “effect of phlebitis in pediatric patients who have a peripheral catheter in an Institution in Manizales.” The selected article was analyzed with the “complicated reading guide for original documents in Salud de Astete, considering that it presented moderate evidence, classifying it as level of veracity II-3 and grade of recommendation C. The results responded to the objective by identifying factors that alert to prevent the appearance of phlebitis, guaranteeing the care and safety of the pediatric patient.
