Pièces musicales abondamment composées au début du 20ème siècle au Japon, les chants pour enfants ont fait l'objet de réflexions croisées entre pédagogues, hommes de lettres et musiciens dans une période d'effervescence culturelle et de développement des médias de divertissement.Introduite très tôt dans le système scolaire, la pratique du chant présentait des intérêts aussi variés que ceux de renforcer l'esprit collectif, de faciliter la mémorisation des connaissances, de disposer d'un répertoire interprété lors des cérémonies publiques et des manifestations patriotiques, mais aussi d'attribuer une identité commune aux exécutants. La question de l'identité musicale japonaise a notamment préoccupé les intellectuels de l'ère Taishô qui, face à l'occidentalisation grandissante bouleversant la vie sociale des Japonais, voulurent exhumer les chansons autochtones afin de les exploiter dans l'élaboration d'un nouveau répertoire.Chacune des trois parties de cette thèse s'attache donc à décrire et analyser les comptines (warabe uta), les chants scolaires (shôka) puis les chants pour enfants (dôyô) qui constituent le répertoire de la chanson enfantine au Japon, afin de retracer les évolutions inhérentes à ces types de pièces vocales, décrire les interactions des différents courants musicaux, révéler les ruptures et les oppositions que l'on peut observer dans les discours des milieux artistiques et littéraires, et permettre ainsi une meilleure compréhension de la société de l'époque. / Children’s songs were a source of reflection between pedagogues, intellectuals, and musicians during a dynamic period of cultural revival and the development of media for entertainment.Introduced very early in the school system, singing practice was a source of various interests as much as an enforcement of a collective spirit or knowledge memorization. On the other hand, patriotic demonstrations during public ceremonies allowed the enforcement of national identity through singing. The Japanese musical identity raised several questions for intellectuals of the Taisho era. During that time, they were facing an acceleration of the phenomenal Westernization of Japanese society and wanted to use Japanese nursery rhymes in order to create a new repertoire.Each part of this thesis will describe and analyze nursery rhymes (warabe uta), school songs (shôka) and children songs (dôyô) that form the genre of ‘children songs’ in Japan. Through each item, I will retrace the evolution of those types of vocal pieces and describe the interactions between the repertoire of different musical eras. This will help to reveal the opposition that can be witnessed in the speech of the artistic and literary community at the time and allows a better understanding of the wider society of that period.

本個案研究旨在探討英語歌謠韻文對一位國小學童口說溝通態度之成效。資料收集與分析主要採取質性之資料收集及分析法,以期對於歌謠韻文教學之於國小學童口說溝通態度能有更深入的了解。參與本研究的學生為一位就讀於新北市大型公立國小三年級,從小未參與過任何課外英語課程的學童。研究期間自民國一百年八月至民國一百零一年二月,資料收集方式以半結構式訪談、課堂錄影觀察及教師日誌為主。
本個案研究以學習態度的三個面向來探討歌謠韻文教學對國小學童口說溝通態度之成效。研究結果顯示,無論在認知、情感及行為等面向,對話式的歌謠韻文對國小學童的口說溝通態度皆有正面成效。唯由於受試者之個性化差異,歌謠韻文教學的活動型態也可能對學童的態度產生不同影響。研究者根據這些發現,提出對歌謠韻文教學之於國小學童口說溝通態度的看法,及未來研究方向的建議,以期對英語教學能有更多建設性的研究貢獻。 / This case study attempts to have a better understanding of the effects of songs and chants on a young EFL learner’s attitudes toward oral communication. To achieve the purpose of this study, qualitative methods were adopted to capture a holistic picture of the young learner’s English learning at school. The participant was a third grader who studied in a large-sized public elementary school in New Taipei City. She had never taken any extracurricular English courses after school. The only instruction she received was the eighty-minute lesson per week from her school English teacher. Data was collected from August, 2011 to February, 2012. The teacher’s journals, video-recordings of classroom observation, and three semi-structured interviews were utilized to collect data for the analyses of the effects of songs and chants on a young EFL learner’s attitudes toward oral communication.
The results revealed that the participant showed positive attitudinal changes while receiving the songs and chants related instruction. According to the participant’s cognitive responses, emotional states and behaviors, both verbally and nonverbally, the researcher suggested that songs and chants could motivate the young learner’s attitudes toward oral communication in English. However, the types of songs and chants related activities might affect the young learner’s willingness to speak. Based on the findings, pedagogical implications and suggestions were recommended for future research. It is hoped to provide some insights into the dynamics of songs and chants instruction as well as young EFL learners’ attitudes toward oral communication.

Esta tese tem por objetivo primordial trazer ao âmbito da Academia um saber popular, anônimo e folclórico, representado pelas cantigas de Ternos de Reis, pesquisadas em Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brasil, cuja origem remonta aos Açores, Portugal. Buscamos realizar neste trabalho uma exegese de tais cantigas a partir das noções de folclore (Cascudo), cultura popular (Burke), performance (Schechner, Zumthor), mitos (Kerényi, Campbell), arquétipos (Jung), festas religiosas (Bakhtin, Perez), poesia (Spina, Trevisan) e, por fim, a relação de tais instâncias com a voz dos subalternos e as epistemologias do Sul (Santos). Dessa maneira, tentamos abordar as cantigas de Ternos de Reis sob diversos aspectos e mostrar ao leitor atento a riqueza da cultura popular. / This thesis aims to bring to the Academic world, a new and popular knowledge which main characteristics are the anonymous aspects of its feature and also its folkloric way of existence. This new knowledge is represented by the Christmas Chants brought to Brazil by the Azoreans (Portugal) and which remains in the Brazilian tradition and folklore, especially in the city of Florianópolis, Santa Catarina State, Brazil. The author tried to do an exegesis of such Christmas Chants, through the following theories and notions: folklore (Cascudo), Popular Culture (Burke), performance (Schechner, Zumthor), myths (Kerényi, Campbell), archetypes (Jung), religious feasts (Bakhtin, Perez), poetry (Spina, Trevisan) and at last what such theories have in common with the voice of subalterns and the epistemologies of the South (Santos).
