The present study was calculated to determine whether or not a congregation with a good percentage increase in membership from a specific date in 1956 to a corresponding date in 1957 would also experience any percentage increase in attendance of members and visitors at the Sunday morning worship services. Likewise, would such a congregation have a large percentage of its assembly in attendance at its Bible classes and at its midweek services?

Women Who Worship Alone: The Relationship Between Marital Status and Loneliness in the Church

This study investigated the relationship between marital status, network density, and loneliness for women in the church. Participants were 144 women from several churches of the same Protestant denomination. They responded to a questionnaire which included the Revised UCLA Loneliness Scale and measures of the importance of the church as a social support to the individual.
