Postoje členů ČCE k aktuálním společensko-morálním otázkám / Attitudes of the ECCB members towards current social moral issues

Lavický, Jan January 2017 (has links)
In my diploma thesis, I deal with five socio-moral topics and with the attitudes of members of The Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren (ECCB) towards them. These topics are: 1) Marriage and family 2) Homosexuality 3) Ethnical minorities 4) Dispute over the legacy of communism 5) Refugees and immigrants. First part of the thesis is dedicated to the official statements of the synod and the Synodal Council. Furthermore, this chapter reveals the process leading to adopting these positions. This rather descriptive part is followed by a sociological survey of opinions on the issues, mentioned above, held by members of ECCB. The aim of the survey is to figure out, whether these opinions are in agreement with the official statements. The final chapter is dedicated to data evaluation. The main goal of my diploma thesis is to find out what issues are for ECCB members easy to agree on and in which cases are the opinions rather individualized. Keywords Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren, Social ethics, Sociological survey, Moral attitudes

Právní řád Českobratrské církve evangelické - dějiny a současnost / The Legal Order of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren - History and Present

Csukás, Adam January 2021 (has links)
The Legal Order of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren - History and Present The aim of this thesis is to gather available sources concerning the legal order of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren (ECCB) since its establishment in 1918 to the present day. The sources used address the legal history of the Protestant Church in Cisleithania from 1848 until the end of World War I. A critical analysis of the sources is carried out to document the development of the church constitution and the orders of the ECCB. The criteria for the elaboration of individual storylines are primarily the historical relevance and the practical applicability of the information regarding the ECCB Strategic Plan of 2019. The thesis consists of an introduction, followed by three parts, and a conclusion. The first part, (1848-1922), comprises four chapters covering the legal history of the Protestant Church in Cisleithania from the revolutionary years 1848/1849 until the dissolution of Austria-Hungary and the establishment of both Czechoslovakia and the ECCB. Particular attention is given to the circumstances surrounding the creation of the church constitution of 1861, the constitutional reform efforts of the Czech-speaking Czech and Moravian Protestants of both confessions (Augsburg and Helvetic), the movement of...

Evangelíci a spiritismus v Podkrkonoší / Protestant congregations and Spiritualism in Podkrkonoší

Kletvík, Jan January 2013 (has links)
After 1781 there were established several Protestant congregations in Podkrkonoší (North-East Bohemia). Approximately one hundred years later, the whole region was greatly affected by Spiritualism, a belief in communication with spirits of the dead through mediums. My objective is to describe the attitudes of the Protestant congregations in Podkrkonoší towards Spiritualism and analyse their causes and effects. Understanding these attitudes will yield an insight into the character of the present congregations. For this purpose, I studied the congregations in Libštát, Křížlice, and Jičín. In particular I focused on their parish priests because they had the control over their flock in these questions. I went through the archival materials of the respective congregations as well as personal diaries, and I analysed the memories of several interviewed people. These findings were then compared with the attitudes of some congregations in Great Britain. The results revealed three different approaches of the priests. Some were very radical, which led to excommunication of Spiritualists. Others were rather tolerant, which resulted in integration of Spiritualists. Finally, some priests were quite secretive, so their parishioners may not have seen a clear line between Spiritualism and Christianity.

The first chapter describes the oldest hymnbooks from 1918 (foundation of ECCB), second chapter studies the beginning of systematical work in departments in the years 1941 - 1950, the third chapter follows the work in the Department of Hymnology of the Synodal Council of ECCB in the years 1951 - 1979, when the new hymnbook was finally published. The fourth chapter concludes the thesis with the summary of reaction of the church after the publication of the new hymnbook, publication of the Appendix of the new hymnbook and describes the situation in present days. The whole thesis is finished with an interview with a contemporary witness, Mr. Jiří Otter, former secretary of the Synodal Council. His task was to superintend the press in Germany and he gave some photos to the author of this thesis (see Appendix). The whole thesis is based on archival materials found in the Archive of ECCB and National Archive in the first half of 2013.

Sociální sítě a církevní společenství / Social Networks and the Curch Community

Vondra, Radek January 2016 (has links)
The aim of the thesis is to describe forms and the potential of social networks within a church community from the perspective of the inclusion. The thesis specifies what social networks are, how they relate to community, and how they can be explored. It deals with a local congregation as the main unit of a church and its specification in The Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren. It also describes various views of the inclusion. The research part of the thesis depicts the process of entering a particular local congregation of The Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren. Using this example, the thesis categorizes different forms of inclusion including the biblical commandment of love, and captures the ever changing ways and powers of the social networks within a church as they attract and carry a person.
