In this composition, a study of consignment inventory on basis of the factors which are important for implementation and application of consignment inventory are made. Logistics chain from subcontractor to end customer is becoming more complex when the volume of items constantly increases to satisfy the needs of the market. From that perspective, companies had large inventories but today it is a lot of different solutions to streamline inventory management. One way that recently becomes increasingly common is to let the subcontractor fill up the customers stock using different approaches such as VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory). A further step in the evolution can be to make use of consignment inventory where the vendor owns the stock of the customer. Then the material will be the customer’s property when the need arises. In order to ascertain whether consignment stocks in general is a good solution, a study has been done to investigate which factors are relevant for the implementation and application of consignment inventory within the industry. To find out the importance of the application of consignment inventory have a literature study of relevant theory in the field been done and where also a case study as a research method has been developed. In the case study, a number of companies have been selected with a non probability sampling where a qualitative approach is used to collect data and information. The theory used is based on selected elements in several different areas of logistics. When the interface is many has the following main areas been affected: Supply Chain Management, Lean production, outsourcing, capital binding, Just In Time, synchronization, VMI and distribution. On the basis of these areas has created a model which is then used in the investigation of the various cases. In the study has three cases been examined of which only one case are working on consignment inventory, while a case using vendor managed inventory as well as to the third case has ambitious plans to implement a consignment inventory. Background to the choice of cases is to be able to discuss consignment inventory in general. The final result is based on a comparison between the theoretical and the empirical investigation. What is revealed by the survey is that combinations of several different factors determine if a consignment is applicable as the logistical goal mix points out. Relevant factors are that the agreements have a good reason, the information exchange works well, capital binding and possibilities to have inventory at the customers plant. Also physical factors such as distance, the products format and distribution is of importance. / I detta examensarbete har en undersökning gjorts om konsignationslager utifrån vilka faktorer som är av betydelse både vid implementering samt tillämpning av konsignationslager. Logistikkedjan från underleverantör till slutkund blir allt mer komplex då volymen av artiklar ständigt ökar för att tillfredställa marknadens behov. Utifrån det perspektivet har företag haft stora lager men idag arbetar man mycket med olika lösningar för att effektivisera lagerhanteringen. Ett sätt som blivit allt vanligare på senare tid är att leverantören fyller på lagret hos kund och då ofta med hjälp av olika arbetssätt som t.ex. VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory). Ytterligare ett steg i utvecklingen kan vara att använda sig av konsignationslager där leverantören äger materialet hos kunden. Då övergår materialet till kund först när behov uppstår. För att utröna om konsignationslager generellt är en bra lösning har en studie gjorts för att undersöka vilka faktorer som är av betydelse vid implementering och tillämpning av konsignationslager inom industrin. För att ta reda på betydelsen av tillämpningen av konsignationslager har en litteraturundersökning av relevant teori inom området gjorts och där även en fallstudie som forskningsmetod har utarbetats. I fallstudien har ett antal företag valts ut med ett icke-sannolikhetsurval där ett kvalitativt arbetssätt har använts för att samla in data och information. Den teori som använts bygger på valda delar inom flera olika områden inom logistiken. Då beröringspunkterna är många har följande huvudområden berörts: Supply Chain Management, Lean production, outsourcing, kapitalbindning, JIT (Just In Time), synkronisering, VMI och distribution. Utifrån dessa områden har en modell skapats som sedan använts i undersökningen av de olika fallen. I undersökningen har tre fall undersökts där endast ett fall arbetar med konsignation medan ett fall använder sig av leverantörsstyrt lager samt att det tredje fallet har långtgående planer på att implementera ett konsignationslager. Bakgrunden till valen av fall är att kunna diskutera generaliserbarheten med konsignation. Det slutliga resultatet har grundats på en jämförelse mellan den teoretiska och den empiriska undersökningen. Det som framkom av undersökningen är att en samverkan mellan flera olika faktorer avgör om ett konsignationslager är tillämpligt vilket även framgår av den logistiska målmixen. Faktorer av betydelse är att avtalen har en bra grund, informationsutbytet fungerar bra, kapitalbindning och lagermöjligheter hos kund. Även fysiska faktorer som avstånd, varornas format och distribution är av betydelse.

The aim of this study was to develop age and sex specific reference values for waist circumference (WC) based on a sample of 2015 primary school children (i.e. 979 boys and 1036 girls aged 9 12 years) who were randomly selected from 19 primary schools in Makurdi, Benue State of Nigeria. Waist and hip circumferences were measured wi th a flexible anthropometric tape according to the protocol of the International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry (ISAK). Mean WC was higher in girls than in boys, and these differences were statistically signi ficant from age 10 onwards. Similarly, hip circumference was significantly higher (p<0.05) in girls than in boys at all ages. Whereas waist and hip circumferences increased with age in both sexes, the increase was relatively greater for hip circumference. Generally, waist related percentiles values increased wi th age in boys and girls, but girls had higher values than boys in most of the age specific percentiles. WC showed significantly higher (p <0.0001) values in girls than in boys at ages 10 12 years, and this increased with age in both categories. The reference data obtained in this study can be used to identify children with high risk of developing obesity related disorders and form the basis for future research studies.
