Num primeiro momento, são apresentados os principais aspectos do modelo teórico-analítico proposto pelo autor para pensar os fenômenos de distinção social. Em seguida, traça-se um perfil ideal-típico sobre as classes altas de Brasília, procurando algumas características a seu respeito e sobre suas práticas. Passa-se ainda em revista aos estudos recentes sobre distinção social em diferentes países e no Brasil, principalmente, assim como a estudos que versam sobre estilos de vida entre as classes altas no Brasil. Num segundo momento, o trabalho se encaminha para a investigação das práticas, gostos e estilos de vida entre frações da classe alta brasiliense com objetivo de perceber como se manifesta a distinção social engendrada pelos agentes que formam a coleção de casos considerada. Com base na análise de entrevistas semi-diretivas e nas visitas feitas as casas dos informantes é possível afirmar que a distinção social que se desenrola entre o conjunto de agentes estudados, ocupantes de altas posições na hierarquia social da cidade de Brasília, pouco se baseia em critérios como sofisticação cultural e entrega a saberes gratuitos, se apresentado de maneira mais preponderante os cuidados com o corpo e com a aparência, a estilização das residências, as práticas gastronômicas e turísticas. ______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / Having a start point on the theoretical-analytical model proposed by Pierre Bourdieu to think the social distinction, this study aims to investigate about the processes of social distinction that unfold in the social and symbolic space of Brasilia. In a first stage, we present the main aspects of the theoretical-analytical model proposed by the author to think about the phenomena of social distinction. Then draws up a ideal-typical profile of upper classes in Brasília, seeking some characteristics about them and about their practices. It also surveys recent studies of social distinction in different countries and in Brazil, especially, as well as studies that deal with lifestyles among the upper classes in Brazil. Secondly, the study goes into an inquiry about practices, tastes and lifestyles among fractions of Brasília’s upper class in order to understand how the social distinction manifests between the agents that constitute the collection of cases considered in the research. Based on the analysis of semi-structured interviews and visits in the homes of informants is possible to say that the social distinction that unfolds between the set of agents studied, representatives of the Brasília upper class fractions, it’s not based on cultural sophistication and free knowledge. It presents, predominantly, based on care of the body and appearance, the stylization of the residences, tourist and gastronomic practices.
