Orientador: Eliane Chaves Jorge / Resumo: Bissoli SFR. Mapping of the evidences of systematic reviews of Ophthalmology Cochrane database. [dissertation]. Botucatu, SP: Botucatu Medical School, State University of São Paulo 2018. Rationale and objectives: The Cochrane Collaboration aims to provide, through the publication of systematic reviews, up-to-date, objective information and with consistent evidence for clinical practice and for the establishment of health policies. However, there is often an inconsistency of evidence and inability to generate recommendations. The objective of this study was to analyze the systematic reviews of the Cochrane Collaboration Ophthalmology Group and to map its usefulness to clinical practice and to scientific research. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out with an analysis of all the systematic reviews published in the Ophthalmology Group of the Cochrane Collaboration until May 2018, confirming the type of recommendation for clinical practice and for scientific research, through analysis of the conclusions of its authors. In addition, we counted the number of clinical trials and meta-analyzes by systematic review and by subspecialty, per year. Results: 202 revisions were obtained in the period. Evidence that supports the intervention, with recommendation for further studies: 36.3% [CI 95% 36.2-36.4] or no recommendation for further studies: 5.0% [CI 95% 4.8-5.1]. Evidence contrary to intervention, with recommendation for further studies 3.0% [CI 95% 2.8-3.1] or no recomme... (Complete abstract click electronic access below) / Mestre

Information needs of health researchers in developing countries : A survey of development country participants in Cochrane collaboration.

Pienaar, Elizabeth Dorothea January 2004 (has links)
Master of Public Health - MPH / One hundred and fifty two (152) countries in the world can be classified as developing or low-resourced countries (LR Cs) according to the World Bank. 1 In the majority of these countries the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is below $1000. Given these limited resources it stands to reason that there is less money available to spend on healthcare and health research

Reintroducing Communication as a Strategy in Printed Evidence-based Medical Materials. Model to Assess Effectiveness

Genova, Juliana 07 November 2012 (has links)
Hypotheses on the efficiency of evidence-based printed materials can be directed by health communication concepts. These concepts can provide a general framework that goes beyond the traditional vulgarization point of view: instead, it points towards a strategy to obtain health outcomes and provoke behavior change, from a disease prevention, management and health promotion perspective. The present study proposes a comprehensive framework based on concepts from health risk communication, Tarde's theory of social values, usability, readability and plain language. Using the mapping approach, an evaluation grid was applied to printed evidence-based materials with proven effectiveness, in order to reveal the underlying strategy and isolate the characteristics of effective materials. The results allowed us to define two types of printed evidence-based materials, according to the robustness of the evidence they contain and the target audience. It was also possible to identify indicators of notions that are translated into operationalized items, frequent in those materials that might be responsible for their efficiency: clear purpose of the documents, limited scope, learning motivation and correspondence to the logic, experience and language of readers. Effectiveness of printed evidence-based materials could also be correlated to numeracy, objectiveness, standard definitions, constant timeframes and denominators, risks enumerated in order of importance, effective response, and high degree of threat, urgency, novelty and visibility of the disease. It was also possible to identify some missing communication concepts: cultural diversity, narrative, increased easiness of procedures and aesthetic advantage for the patient. In the process of work, the theory of social values emerged as a dynamic component that can bring together and explain many concepts, as well as physician’s acceptance of the guidelines. Value in terms of usefulness and truth plays a major role in cognitive appreciation of the documents. This concept gives a strategic meaning to the whole work and allows us to better understand attitude and behavior change.

O número médio de ensaios clínicos nas revisões foi de 7,4, variando entre zero e 137, e o número médio de meta-análises foi igual a 3,1, variando entre zero e 26. Místo výzkumu a Evidence Based Practice v ošetřovatelství / The place of research and Evidence Based Practice in nursing.

HRSTKOVÁ, Pavla January 2011 (has links)
Nursing is a permanently developing field of activity. Research plays an irreplaceable role in this field. We moreover more and more often see the term Evidence Based Practice nowadays. However a lot of general nurses do not know that this term also relates to the field of nursing, where it is called Evidence Based Nursing. Quantitative research was chosen for this thesis. The research was performed in South Bohemian and Central Bohemian regions among general nurses with bachelor degree. The aim of the questionnaire research was to confirm or refute the hypotheses set for this thesis. The first goal of the thesis was to find out whether general nurses with bachelor degree were willing to participate in research in nursing. The second goal was to find out whether general nurses with bachelor degree had come across the term Evidence Based Practice. The third goal was focused on finding whether general nurses with bachelor degree knew the names of databases that might be used in planning nursing care based on evidence. The fourth goal was to find out whether general nurses with bachelor degree were willing to participate on application of research results to nursing practice. The fifth goal was to find out whether general nurses with bachelor degree had met with application of research results to nursing practice. The goals of the thesis have been met. Five hypotheses were set for achievement of the above goals. H1: General nurses with bachelor degree are willing to participate in research in nursing. H2: General nurses with bachelor degree are able to define the term Evidence Based Practice. H3: General nurses with bachelor degree know the names of databases they may use in planning nursing care based on evidence. H4: General nurses with bachelor degree are willing to participate in introduction and application of research results to nursing practice. H5: General nurses with bachelor degree meet application of research results to nursing practice. The first, second and fourth hypotheses were confirmed, the third and fifth ones were not confirmed. Although the issues of Evidence Based Practice appear more and more often in literature, and we might expect nurses with tertiary education to apply the practice based on evidence in nursing, there are still general nurses who have lack of information in this sphere. Nevertheless there are a lot of general nurses with tertiary education who would like to participate in research and application of the research results to nursing practice. A proposal for a whole-life educational course focused on application of Evidence Based Practice to nursing was elaborated upon the research results. The results may also be used in hospital seminars and in education of nursing students.
