Study on the N-type thermoelectric material Bi2Te2.7Se0.3Ye, Jin-jia 16 August 2011 (has links)
Bismuth telluride based compounds is known to be the best thermoelectric materials within the room temperature regime. In this study, the n-type Bi2Te3-based thermoelectric alloy was synthesized by powder metallurgy method. The Bi2Te2.7Se0.3 thermoelectric materials were prepared via the ball milling, cold pressing, and sintering processes. The effects of sintering time and temperature on the microstructures and thermoelectric properties were investigated and discussed.
The X-ray diffraction patterns of Bi2Te2.7Se0.3 reveal that the compounds are single phase after the sintering processes. And the experimental results showed that the pores was reduced by the increased sintering temperature and time.
According to the measurement results, the Seebeck coefficient was decreased at firest and then increased by the increased sintering temperature. The optimal Seebeck coefficient of -156.936(£gV/K) was obtained as the sample was sintered at 350¢XC for 3h. The results also showed that the thermal conductivity was increased by the increased sintering temperature, whereas the electrical resistivity was reduced. The lowest thermal conductivity 0.816 (W/m¡EK) was obtained as the sample was sintered at 350¢XC for 1h. On the other hand, the electrical resistivity of 1.6999¡Ñ10-5(£[-m) was obtained as the sample was sintered at 450¢XC for 2h. The figure of merit of 0.31 was obtained at room temperature as the sample was sintered at 375¢XC for 2h.

The nutritional value of biodiesel co-products were studied for swine. In Exp. 1, expeller-pressed canola meal was nutritionally characterized and validated for grower-finisher pigs. Expeller-pressed canola meal provided adequate energy and AA; ADG was reduced 3 g/d per 1% expeller-pressed canola meal inclusion in diets formulated to equal NE and SID AA, due to 5 mol/g dietary glucosinolates. In Exp. 2, cold-pressed canola cake samples from 4 different processing conditions were tested against expeller-pressed canola meal and seed in a digestibility study. Higher residual oil in the cake increased the DE and NE content. In Exp. 3, 15% of either solvent-extracted or expeller-pressed canola meal with or without 5% glycerol was tested against a soybean meal diet for weanlings. Solvent-extracted or expeller-pressed canola meal, or in combination with 5% glycerol can partially replace soybean meal in weaner diets formulated to equal NE and SID AA content without affecting growth performance. / Animal Science

Bismuth telluride based compounds is known to be the best thermoelectric materials within the low temperature regime. In this study, the P-type Bi0.5Sb1.5Te3 thermoelectric alloy was synthesized by ceramic processing method.
The Bi0.5Sb1.5Te3 thermoelectric materials were prepared via the ball milling, cold pressing, and sintering processes. The effects of sintering time and temperature on the microstructures and thermoelectric properties were investigated and discussed.
The X-ray diffraction patterns of Bi0.5Sb1.5Te3 reveal that the compounds have the oxides after the sintering processes and the heat treatment process causes grain growth by the increased sintering temperature and time.
The results of thermoelectric properties show that the optimal Seebeck coefficient 300(£gV/K) was obtained as the sample was sintered at 350¢XC for 3h and the resistivity will reach the maximum. The figure of merit of 0.15 was obtained at room temperature as the sample was sintered at 375¢XC for 3h.

This diploma thesis is focused on preparation of Mg-Al based bulk materials via powder metallurgy. The bulk materials were prepared by cold pressing, cold pressing followed by sintering, cold pressing followed by sintering and artificial aging, SPS (spark plasma sintering), SPS followed by solution annealing, SPS followed by solution annealing and artificial aging. The prepared materials were characterized in terms of microstructure and physical and mechanical properties. The properties of the prepared materials differed depending on the method of preparation and Al content. All materials after heat treatment were consisted of solid solution (Mg), intermetallic phase Mg17Al12 and MgO. The composition of the materials depended on Al content. Sintering by the SPS method resulted in material with better mechanical properties compared to materials whose first step of preparation was cold pressing.

<p>Jedno od specijalnih jestivih ulja koje se proizvodi isključivo mehaničkim postupkom i koje se može uvrstiti u grupu funkcionalnih prehrambenih proizvoda je ulje semena tikve. Ovo ulje je veoma atraktivno za potrošace, pre svega zbog svoje karakteristične arome, visoke nutritivne vrednosti i dokazanog blagotvornog delovanja na zdravlje. Cilj istraživanja u okviru ove teze je bio da se izvrši karakterizacija senzorsko nutritivnog kvaliteta i oksidativne stabilnosti hladno presovanih i devičanskih ulja tikve sa tržišta, ispita uticaj termičke obrade semena na kvalitet, nutritivnu vrednost i održivost devičanskog tikvinog ulja i da se definišu senzorska svojstva i održivost hladno presovanog ulja semena tikve. U cilju karakterizacije ulja ispitivanja su sprovedena na većem broju uzoraka hladno presovanih i devičanskih ulja semena<br />tikve nabavljenih neposredno, slučajnim izborom sa domaćeg i inostranog tržišta. Definisana su osnovna svojstva i najbitnije kvalitativne razlike između ove dve kategorije ulja proizvedenih različitom tehnologijom. Iako se proizvode iz iste sirovine tikvina ulja se međusobno bitno razlikuju po brojnim kvalitativnim, a naročito senzorskim svojstvima (ukus, miris, aroma i boja) što može da stvori zabune kod<br />potrošaca. Ispitivanjima uticaja različite termičke obrade semena utvrđeno je da proces pečenja mlevenog materijala neposredno pre presovanja bitno utiče na kvalitativna svojstva i održivost devičanskog ulja. Termička obrada mlevenog semena pri temperaturi u interval od 90 do 130 <sup>o</sup>C i vremenu od 30 do 70 min pokazala je različit uticaj na senzorski kvalitet, sadržaj bioaktivnih komponenata i oksidativnu stabilnost ulja ispoljavajući kako negativan, tako i pozitivan efekat. U delu istraživanja vezanih za definisanje senzorskih svojstava i određivanje održivosti ulja izdvojenog postupkom hladnog presovanja osušenog semena tikve na pužnoj presi, ustanovljeno je da se najkvalitetnije ulje dobije pri prvom presovanju, buduci da je aroma ulja najbolja, pri tom su kiselinski i peroksidni broj najmanji, a indukcioni period najduži. Ovo se potvrdilo, kako pri presovanju samo semena golice, tako i pri presovanju golice sa dodatkom semena sa ljuskom. Promene najbitnijih pokazatelja u cilju odredivanja održivosti ulja praćene su periodično u trajanju od 2 godine. U<br />tom periodu došlo je do izvesnog pogoršanja senzorskog kvaliteta ulja, određenog porasta kiselinskog i peroksidnog broja, kao i do smanjenja indukcionog perioda. Medutim, bez obzira na intenzitet nastalih promena, ulja su odgovarala svim zakonskim normama kvaliteta i nakon dve godine čuvanja. Ipak, radi obezbeđenja vrhunskog kvaliteta za rok trajanja hladno presovanih ulja semena tikve golice može se preporuciti period najviše do godinu dana.</p> / <p> Pumpkin seed oil is one of the specialty oils produced only by mechanical procedure and can be classified in the group of functional food products. This oil is very attractive (interesting) for the consumers first of all for its characteristic flavour, high nutritive value and proved beneficial effect on health. The aim of the investigations in the scope of this thesis was to characterize the sensoric-nutritive quality and oxidative<br /> stability of cold pressed and virgin pumpkin seed oils from the market, to investigate the effect (influence) of heat treatment of seed on quality, nutritive value and stability of virgin pumpkin seed oil and to define the sensory characteristics and stability of cold pressed pumpkin seed oil. Aiming to characterize the oil, a number of cold pressed and virgin pumpkin seed oil samples, randomly taken from the domestic and foreign market, were investigated (analyzed). The basic characteristics and most important qualitative differences between these two categories of oils produced applying different technologies were defined. Both types of pumpkin seed oils are produced from the same raw material, however, they differ significantly regarding a number of<br /> quality, and expecially sensory proterties (taste, odour, flavour and colour), so the consumers may become embarrassed. Investigating the influence of different heat treatment of seed, it was found that the roasting of ground material before the pressing affects significantly the quality characteristics and stability of virgin oil. The heat treatment of ground seed at temperatures 90 to 130 °C, for 30 to 70 min, showed different influence on sensory quality, content of bioactive components and oxidative stability of oil, exhibiting both negative and positive effect. In the part dealing with the defining of sensory characteristics and stability determination of oil obtained by cold pressure of dried pumpkin seed on screw press, it was found that most quality oil was obtained by the first pressing process, the oil flavur is the best, with lowest acid and peroxide value, and the induction period is the longest. This was confirmed by pressing both hull-less pumpkin and hull-less with the addition<br /> of pumpkin seed with hull. The most important characteristics for oil stability were<br /> followed for two years. In this period a certain deterioration of sensory quality was found, the acid and peroxide value increased, and the induction period decreased. However, disregarding the intensity of changes, the oil samples are in accordance with all legal quality normatives even after two years from the production date. However, in order to maintain the high (first-class) quality of cold pressed oil of hull-less pumpkin seed, the recomended period for the shelf-life of oil is one year.</p>

Heterogeneous distribution of density can occur in the green compact during pressing because of the friction between the particles of the material and the pressing tools, that may hinder the sintering step. In this context, the simulation of the pressing process constitutes an important tool for the study and improvement of this step, to obtain green compacts with good microstructural homogeneity and also analyze the pressing tools to optimize its design in industrial applications. The identification of a constitutive model to represent the powder material is required to perform the simulation and it is the
most complex step. The Drucker-Prager/Cap model implemented in the commercial
software of finite elements, AbaqusTM, is suitable primarily for soil compaction study and is able to simulate the mechanical compaction of particulate materials. The parameters of this model have been obtained for a silico-aluminous refractory by a combination of simple, diametrical and hydrostatic compression tests. In studies available in the literature, the material models are partially identified, and in many cases, inadequate simplifications are applied. This study aimed to identify the parameters of the material model more precisely using the digital images
correlation technique in the mechanical tests, which enabled a greater understanding of the yielding mechanisms and the achievement of data not obtained by conventional techniques. This methodology allowed the identification of a constitutive model and it was valitaded by the good agrrement between experimental
results and those obtained in computer simulations, applied to a uniaxial case
followed by isostatic pressing. / Um dos métodos para o processamento de materiais refratários é a prensagem a frio do material particulado, seguida da etapa de sinterização. Durante a prensagem pode ocorrer uma distribuição heterogênea de densidades no compacto verde, causada pelo atrito entre as partículas do material e as paredes da cavidade do ferramental de prensagem, que pode prejudicar a etapa de sinterização. Neste contexto, a simulação computacional do processo de prensagem
constitui-se em uma ferramenta importante para o estudo e aperfeiçoamento desta etapa, visando obter compactos verdes com boa homogeneidade microestrutural e também analisar as solicitações no ferramental a fim de otimizar seu projeto em aplicações industriais. A identificação de um modelo constitutivo
que represente o material é necessária para realização das simulações e trata-se da etapa de maior complexidade. O modelo de Drucker-Prager/Cap implementado no software comercial de elementos finitos AbaqusTM é adequado principalmente para o estudo de compactação de solos e é capaz de simular o
adensamento mecânico de materiais particulados. Os parâmetros deste modelo
para um material refratário sílico-aluminoso foram identificados pela combinação
de ensaios de compressão simples, diametral e hidrostática. Em trabalhos disponíveis
na literatura, os modelos de material são parcialmente identificados e, em muitos casos, são aplicadas simplificações inadequadas. O presente estudo visou uma identificação mais precisa dos parâmetros do modelo de material, uma vez que os ensaios mecânicos foram auxiliados pela técnica de correlação de
imagens digitais, que possibilitou a avaliação mais profunda dos mecanismos de
escoamento e a obtenção de dados não alcançados por técnicas convencionais.
Essa metodologia permitiu a identificação do modelo constitutivo e a validação consistiu na comparação entre resultados experimentais e os obtidos em simulações computacionais, aplicados a um caso de prensagem uniaxial seguida de prensagem isostática, apresentando boa concordância.

The diploma thesis is dealt with a project of a new manufacture method of a bicycle´s part. The part is a brake drum, which is the necessary part of a free-running charge. In an intro-duction of the diploma thesis is described a nowdays manufacture technology and its deficiencies. According to the nowdays manufacture technology was designed a new one, which is based on a cold volumetric shanking. The shanked hemihedron is consequently shaped according to the current technology. After the operation of cold shaping an instrument is projected. The project of the shaping technology is filled up by the calculation of the essential parameters, including an arrangement of the instrument and the process. An economical evaluation of the new process of the brake drum is stated and its advantages and disadvantaged were selected.
