Communications Resource Allocation: Feasibility Assessment for Tactial Networking Applications

Bernard, Jon Ashley 13 April 2005 (has links)
The research reported here offers a solution to the communications resource allocation problem. Unlike earlier approaches to this problem, we employ a time-sliced event model where messages are sent and received in a single time slice called an epoch. In addition, we also consider networks that contain relay nodes capable of only transferring messages. Consequently, network topologies can be considered where a given node is not directly connected to every other node and must use one or more relay nodes in order to get a message to some destination. The resulting architectures broaden the networks to be considered and enable the capability of constructing more realistic communication scenarios. In this paper we modify the standard MCNF model by turning our focus to feasibility instead of optimality in an effort to provide adequate and accurate decision support to communication network planners. Given a network configuration and message requirements, our goal is to determine if the proposed scenario is feasible in terms of the communication resources available. To meet this goal, three algorithms are presented that each solve the extended MCNF problem with varying degrees of accuracy and run-time requirements. Experimental results show that a large number of multi-variable interactions among input parameters play a key role in determining feasibility and predicting expected execution time. Several heuristics are presented that reduce run-time dramatically, in some cases by a factor of 37. Each algorithm is tested on a range of inputs and compared to the others. Preliminary results gathered indicate that the second algorithm of the three (APEA) offers the best balance of accuracy vs. execution time. In summary, the solutions presented here solve the resource allocation problem for message delivery in a way that enables evaluation of real world communication scenarios. / Master of Science

Songbased rival assessment in songbirds / Songbased rival assessment in songbirds

LINHART, Pavel January 2014 (has links)
This study shows the importance of the basic spectro-temporal song parameters in territorial contests between male songbirds. Chiffchaff and willow warbler were selected as model species for their phylogenetic and ecological similarity, strong territorial behaviour, but very different singing styles. We found that bigger males of both species sing lower pitched songs and that males of both species adjust their behaviour according to song pitch of their rival simulated by playback. Thus, it seems that both species use song pitch to acoustically assess the body size of their rivals. We also show that song length and syllable rate are important features of the song, probably signalling short-term motivation to escalate territorial conflict.

Pezo Castañeda, Ronald Paul, De La Cruz Ninapaitan, Steve Jasson, Torres Rozas, Bruno Alexis January 2015 (has links)
• Seguridad. • Conmutación de enlaces. Currently, the business sectors optimize their costs without losing production efficiency in Mobile Data Center outsourcing service and acquiring this technology because the infrastructure is mounted useful for all business field. This project deals with the service of implementing a new quota type Data Center Container, hereinafter CPD, following needs improvement center business processes. The design and dimensioning of the different components meet the required standards in the market. The Outdoor Enclosure Electric Shelter Prefabricated itself and all electrical equipment used in systems for the protection, control and monitoring are built according to current standards of ANSI, NEMA, ASTM, IEEE, ISA, OSHA, which also have with Approvals and Quality Certification Laboratories as UL, CSA, SEC or Control Laboratories Production and Quality Certification equivalents. Currently companies are using own links and dedicated to manage their information and connection with your main data center and contingency. In many cases missing the communication between them so the need to be more effective in their use of communication resources is required, so you should consider the following: • Traffic Modeling. • Security. • Switching links.
