Developing an effective classroom and clinical teaching strategy in Malawi nursing collegesDzimnenani, Mbirimtengerenji Noel January 2018 (has links)
Philosophiae Doctor - PhD (Nursing) / Nursing is the largest healthcare profession in Malawi with more than 11,000 registered
Nurses (RNs) and Nurse Technicians and Midwives (NTM) practicing in hospitals and other
settings like nursing colleges nationwide. Nursing tutors in all the nursing colleges use
numerous types of teaching aids in student preparation. There are numerous teaching
strategies that suit pedagogical learning, however not all can yield the desired outcome and
are properly applied in both classroom and clinical areas. Therefore, identifying the new
teaching strategies for nurse tutors is very critical in nursing education hence this study
concentrates on teaching competence, interaction and performance on the use of the
strategies.
Nurse tutors must encourage teaching and learning discovery through deliberate interactive
teaching actions. However, some outcome actions, competences and performance or
interactive behaviour of the nurse tutor are much to be desired in most nursing colleges in
Malawi. Nurses need to possess classroom and clinical teaching competences to perform the
role of a tutor properly.

The competences have played a central role in documents that organize the Brazilian education system. In each scope, different strategies were used, including analysis of theoretical discourses, documentary analysis and analysis of questionnaires answered by teachers, making use, at various times, of Content Analysis. In order to systematize the different senses that emerged from the investigation, it was possible to perceive how the understanding of competences evolves, respecting different purposes and educational values. We believe that the framework resulting from these analyzes may eventually contribute to a greater appropriation by teachers in the development of their practices and an awareness of the elements involved in critical discussions on the subject.

La didattica 2.0 e le competenze dell'insegnante. Verso un modello.SININI, GLORIA 05 March 2012 (has links)
The digital society and the increasing of informal learning spaces require teachers to become digitally competent. The latest digital trends identified with 2.0 web, create new educational challenges in school. This study, developed in collaboration with CREMIT (Catholic University in Milan), aims to develop a digital model competence that could pave the way for teachers training. The model is going to be built from a bibliographic recognition about the competence concept developed by Guy Le Boterf. This theoretical frame has oriented an ethnographic research on field consisted in deep interviews and participant observations of teachers using technology in class. The best teaching practices will be used to build a competence model giving the guidelines for using ICT in education and didactic.

The article describes a teaching innovation proposal for the IT service management course that is currently taught at the Liberal Arts and Humanities school of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP). The innovation consists of a new teaching method based on a board game (designed as a “serious game”) as the main learning strategy. The update addresses the need to create didactic situations for a competence-based approach to teaching in the aforementioned course. Its development involved research, testing (on both recently graduated students and current students), and other enhancements. The resulting proposal is versatile, sustainable in the long term and can be also used in management education in other specializations.

The Pre-listening Stage in L2 Listening Instruction to A2 - B1 Adult Learners.Ždímalová, Hana January 2014 (has links)
The Pre-listening Stage in L2 Listening Instruction to A2 - B1 Adult Learners By Hana Ždímalová This dissertation deals with listening instruction to adult EFL learners in the Czech Republic and the phenomenon of pre-listening, which is currently under-researched. It examines adult EFL students' perspectives and perceptions of listening instruction and of the inclusion of different pre-listening techniques, particularly at CEFR A2-B1 proficiency levels. The theoretical part of the study focuses on current developments in listening research and the historical context of the development of listening instruction in classical FLT methodology. The pre-listening stage has been integral to L2 listening instruction since the beginning of Communicative Language Teaching. However, some controversial issues have recently been raised. For example, teachers are sometimes suspected of spending too much time on the pre- listening stage (Field 2002; 2008) and the overall usefulness of previewed comprehension questions in testing listening has been challenged (Sherman 1997). Moreover, adult students' listening needs and their perceptions of listening instruction have not yet been thoroughly researched (Graham 2006; Graham and Macaro 2008). This study argues that we should ask the students about their perceptions...
