The familiar agricultural production presents important regional particularitities, consequently its socioeconomic reproduction also becomes diversified, justifying the great social inequalities in the Brazilian agricultural way. It is possible to perceive that throughout the years, the familiar production if became a category kept out of society for not having access all the set of attributes that must follow the technological innovation. In this manner, also the difficulty is recognized that the familiar producers have in if locating in the market, being the commercialization of its products the objective most difficult to reach. Thus, the present work presents an analysis on the paper of the agricultural associative as one of the strategies that the familiar producers use, in the fight for the permanence in the agricultural way it city of Palmas-TO. For this, one searched to understand the agricultural development of the city, being analyzed the paper of the agricultural and agrarian politics for the familiar agricultural production, beyond understanding and characterizing the specified socioeconomic of the Community of Great Taquaruçu, as well as the insertion of the familiar agricultural production in the Palmas-TO by means of the associative. / A produção rural familiar apresenta importantes particularidades regionais, conseqüentemente a sua reprodução socioeconômica também se torna diversificada, justificando as grandes desigualdades sociais no meio rural brasileiro. É possível perceber que ao longo dos anos, a produção familiar se tornou uma categoria marginalizada por não ter acesso a todo o conjunto de atributos que devem acompanhar a inovação tecnológica. Desse modo, também é reconhecida a dificuldade que os produtores familiares têm em se posicionar no mercado, sendo a comercialização de seus produtos o objetivo mais difícil de alcançar. Assim, o presente trabalho apresenta uma análise sobre o papel do associativismo rural como uma das estratégias que os produtores familiares utilizam na luta pela permanência no meio rural do município de Palmas capital do Estado do Tocantins. Para isso, buscou-se compreender o desenvolvimento rural do município, analisando o papel das políticas agrícolas e agrárias para a produção rural familiar, além de compreender e caracterizar as especificidades socioeconômicas da Comunidade de Taquaruçu Grande, bem como a inserção da produção rural familiar no município de Palmas-TO por meio do associativismo. / Mestre em Geografia
