Propuesta de concretos reforzados con fibras de acero y cemento puzolánico para la construcción de pavimentos rígidos en la región de Apurímac / Proposal of concrete reinforced with steel fibers and pozzolanic cement for the construction of rigid pavements in the region of Apurímac

Miranda Centeno, Cristian Arturo, Rado Moreno, Marco Eduardo 25 October 2019 (has links)
The purpose of the research carried out in this document is to present concrete reinforced with steel fibers as technical solution for the construction of concrete pavement an alternative solution for the construction of rigid pavement. In order to save costs per cubic meter per square meter of pavement and optimize raw material so increase quality and optimize materials to improve environmental and social sustainability, encourages the study and research on different chemical addition that are added to the concrete as well as the type of reinforcement that complements it. This document will focus on making a proposal of reinforced concrete with steel fiber and pozzolanic cement for the construction of rigid pavement by comparing the physical and mechanical properties of the mixtures and thus obtain the most efficient mixture that meets the conditions of the technical file in order to perform the application in a section of the paving project in the province of Grau of the department of Apurímac. / Tesis

Long term stability of concrete made from red sand in a marine environment

Ghiafeh Davoodi, Majid January 2008 (has links)
The desire of the minerals industry to be more sustainable has led towards the increasing development of by-products. One such industry is the production of Alumina. The Alumina industry in Australia is the major producer of alumina in the western world with over 25 million tonnes of Bauxite Residue per annum. Alcoa World Alumina (Alcoa) has three refineries in Western Australia producing approximately 20,000 tonnes of Mud and a similar level of Red Sand each day. These as yet unutilised potential resources are being stockpiled, occupying a significant footprint. It is widely recognised within industry that there would be economic, environment and social benefits if a sustainable use for these materials were found. One such potential by-product is the production of coarse bauxite residue (Red Sand), neutralised and washed low in salt. The main purpose of this research was to establish a potential market for this material, through scientific evaluation of Red Sand as a replacement of natural fine aggregate (Natural Yellow Sand) in concrete mixes. For this research, the mixed stream of Bauxite Residue (fine and coarse) obtained in the Bayer process was neutralized by a process of carbonation then washed using cyclones and counter current wash towers to a value added byproduct. The coarse particles (Washed and Carbonated Sand-WCS) of the stream were separated by Wet High Intensity Magnetic Separation technique (WHIMS) so that different segments such as High Iron Sand (HIS) and Low Iron Sand (LIS) were formed. Physical, chemical and mineralogical properties of these materials have been tested and compared with that of natural sand. Several mixes of concrete were then designed using Red Sand as a fine aggregate in order to verify their effects on strength and durability indicators of concrete. / The comparative analysis between normal mix proportions and the mix proportions utilizing Red Sand was also achieved. In addition, the impact of marine environment on concrete mix design and properties of manufactured concrete were evaluated with a series of standard laboratory tests. The findings were promising in terms of both mechanical properties and durability and suggested that Red Sand, in particular Low Iron Sand is likely to be effective in place of fine aggregates and can be used within marine grade concrete with no major differences when compared to normal concrete. From the results obtained, it can be deduced that this material can be used in a wide range of concrete applications in Civil Engineering and Construction.

Diseño y evaluación de concreto resistente a sulfatos mediante la adición de nanosílice para la construcción de canales en la costa norte: Caso Chavimochic Etapa I / Design and evaluation of sulphate resistant concrete added with nanosilica for the construction of open-channels on the north coast: Case Chavimochic Stage I

Castañeda Cisneros, Luis Alberto, Salguero Sandoval, Claudia Ximena 14 August 2020 (has links)
The present research was carried out with the purpose of designing and evaluating a mixture of concrete added with nanosilica for application to first order hydraulic channels exposed to sulphates in the north coast of Peru, being analyzed the situation of the Chavimochic Special Project: Stage I. This research is developed experimentally and includes trials with national and international standards (NTP, ASTM and NTC) in the aggregates, water, concrete in fresh state and concrete in hardened state. In order to analyze the increase of certain properties of the structural elements in contact with aggressive agents, such as sulphates, the benefits of incorporating nanosilica in the concrete mixture with 0.2%, 0.225% and 0.25% are evaluated. Being the second percentage of addition, which shows better workability for a water / cement ratio of 0.45. As a result, it was obtained that the nanosilica concrete (NSC) presents lower air content than the simple concrete mixture (SC). In addition, the resistance to compression and tensile increase in 3.41% and 19.48%, respectively, at the age of 28 days with the addition of nanosilica. Likewise, for the sulphate exposure test, the specimens with nanosilica showed an average deterioration of 50% lower in all its edges compared to the simple concrete specimens. Additionally, the permeability coefficient (k) for both mixtures was analyzed and it was determined that the NSC has a low permeability and the SC a medium permeability. / Tesis
